Appears we may have set basic tactics energy settings in reverse, i.e - 98 minimum, 90 return.

Has anyone done this and what was the outcome?

Any idea what happens as game plays?

Your guy will go out instantly as he falls below 98 and stays out 1 play. He then immediately returns the next play as long as he's over 90. If he's below 90, the starter won't go in - but the guy with the highest in-game energy listed at the depth chart.

Nothing crazy... just a setting.

Yeah some people have set theirs to 99/1 this ensures that their players sub back and forth. You can do this for a very balanced team. Other than that though I would probably leave it alone.

Works great if you have 2 guys that are equivalent at a position. You can set it to like 98/0 and they'll just alternate plays the entire game (assuming similar stamina).

The problem here is on three and out drives...the starter will play downs 1 and 3, the sub will only play down 2.

This occurs mostly when the game is very one sided, and you either dominate defensively, or get dominated by the defense.

A little experimentation with your setting can help fix that.

My goal is to avoid the three and out drives taut Plus you can favor backups on blowouts to bring up the other side of that.
