With 78 speed you'll get burned in the pros. There are WRs in the pro leagues with over 100 speed

And it takes more than one level to change a build from crap to good

yeah well you know I was planning on joining a pro team by level 22.... By the time I get to level 30 ill have 78 speed, but the average player on a pro team will be 40+. I am not aiming to be on a pro team anytime soon. My RL friend owns the one team I GM/play for and I practically own the other so I am fairly happy being on my teams.

Agility is 2nd to speed, no doubt. Vision is third. jumping is 4th. A good corner with the right amounts of speed, agility, and vision with the proper corner back settings won't really need jumping as much as you think. Jumping is nice to have as a comfort skill once speed, agility, and vision are in the mid 60's natural.

Agility puts you into position to get the pass deflections for jumping to work. You're crazy.

IMO speed is over-rated. I'm not necessarily saying that it shouldn't be your highest stat, just that your agility needs to be close to it IMO. Like you said, agility (and vision) get you into position. Having way more speed than agility makes it so your CB doesn't brake and cut very well, which is a problem in coverage.

I have an experimental CB build where I'm trying to see how a low-speed/high-agility/high-vision CB can do. Just for kicks.

level 26
--------
54 Speed
68 Agility
55 Vision w/6 Super Vision
33 Jumping
34 Catching

I expected him to mostly suck and get burned. Instead, he's blanket coverage. In the last two years he's given up one touchdown in coverage (7 yards) and hasn't allowed a pass at all of more than 17 yards.

He plays ~55 plays per game and gets targeted one to four times per game (recently he had a game where he was never targeted), allowing a tiny number of completions. Only 22 tackles (1 missed) due to his man seldom being open. Despite seldom being thrown at, he has seven interceptions and 31 PDs this year. His interception percentage must be insanely high. He has no TDs allowed in his last twenty games.

He plays in an uncapped A-league where the QBs and WRs are usually five or more levels higher than him, so I guess it makes things a bit more remarkable.

I guess I'd have to explain his success by saying that his speed-to-agility ratio (not raw agility) is such that he is ultra-mobile and makes cuts better than the WRs he covers. He runs routes better than the WRs so he's always right *there*.

I can't explain the never getting burnt deep part. I've been waiting for it to happen for going on two seasons now... Very strange...

out of curiosity, does he play in man or zone coverage?

About 60% zone 2, 40% man. The Zone 2 switches to zone 1 against rushing teams. Ordinary defense.

I've put all of my equipment points into agility instead of speed. I've been very successfull with 76 speed and 69 agility. I'm kind of thinking I should switch now though because speed costs 4:1 and agility is still only 2:1.

Do you guys think I should switch, bite the bullet and go 4:1 into speed, or starting putting more points into agility and vision which are both at the 2:1 cap?

By the way, that One-Eyed Willie guy on your team gets lit up like the 4th of July... Your guy has more cover skills than him for sure.

So true. He switched all of his equipment from Speed to Agility in the offseason to get more stats. Look how that paid off.

He doesn't seem to be agile or have good top speed. WRs make a cut in their route and he's suddenly miles away. Possibly poor vision?

Nope, not at all. His vision is just as high as Aaron's. Granted, Aaron has 9 in Superior Vision and OEW has 5, but their Vision attribute is basically the same.
