The DE contain seems to be easily made useless by a good TE, so runs to the right work like normal.

The Engage Eight is obviously a run-stopping beast, but got burnt a few times by WR passes (as it should).

Has anybody got an example of the linebacker contain?

Also on DB blitz packages the DB will cheat up to the line, and therefore much more likely to get pressure.

Really? I definitely haven't seen any difference with that. Got an example?

Probably somewhere, if not I'll force some in a game soon with some comparisons but its also been confirmed by Bort that Preset DB blitz plays the DB will cheat down and into the box. Its buried in Bugs somewhere though (Like everything else he says.)

DE contain is designed to stop OUTSIDE runs like Sweeps and Pitches, not runs Off Tackle) but mostly its used to stop HB pass plays.

A DE with High Speed/Agility and decent Vision will react for faster than the O-Line, and this avoids getting tied up by the TE, it also pulls the blocks outside and again forces the play back inside.

Poor DEs will still be bad against good TEs though

I've used the 2 Deep Blitz against Shotgun(3WR) fairly well so far.

On some of the game replays I've watched, that seems to be the defAI of choice. Certainly makes the planning aspect of the Defensive Coordinator easy. Of course, it makes the planning aspect of the opposing Offensive Coordinator easy too.

Laziness => It's the GLB way!

IMO its a valid choice against a team when you know they will run inside/off tackle in a given situation. Ive had it work some, and been burned on some dumps as well
It really just depends on scouting the opponent i think, but I can see how
it could be a very bad move and you can get smoked!

Any of the pre-designed plays you guys find effective against the myriad of plays run from the single back formation?

Let's say short to medium yardage (10 yards and less).

Two - LB contain and DE contain. BUT - they are only effective if the HB actually runs. Any pass play and you're screwed.

In fact I have pretty much thrown out all of the preset plays. Starting about game 5 our D suddenly became horribly bad using them. Anything with the CBs in a Zone you want to stay clear of because good receivers will tear you up.
