OK, I've seen you can transfer, but has anyone seen if you can export the AI to edit it in an external program (notepad, etc) ant import it back again.

Basically I want the ability to copy/paste outputs to new inputs. Is this possible?

No. I don't think you can get all of the data without direct access.
