Hey all,

Wondering if anyone has advice on stopping third and long conversions (like 3rd and 10+). I've been playing Quarters defense, but then you get plays like:

and

Does Cover 3 do the job, or should I run with Cover 2 and try to put more pressure on the QB?

Thanks,
Buck

3-man rush is crap. The QB will have all day to sit back and watch the field unfold, sooner or later one of those receivers will be wide open.

You have a pair of CBs on each play covering over the top- and being nearly completely useless. You have safeties over the top- like this play:

Watch CB1. Sure, there's a small chance he would have played a runaway WR going in his zone, but in actuality he will almost never do a thing. If you trust your corners to play decent man-on-man, make most of the tackles, and 2+ safeties to pick up the slack- you don't need extra CBs playing loose or zone.
