1. Is a cover 2 zone under a good defense to help stop the swing routes?

2. I can't seem to stop the 3 WR Set. I know part of it is my players, but I think I'm playing the wrong defense. What would you guys suggest for stopping this set?

3. When playing Cover 2, the SS always seems to cover the TE, letting the WR run right by him. Is this how the coverage is played, or is it something with the tactics i've set up for him?

1. Sometimes. Depends on personnel more than anything.
2. There is more than 1 3WR set...
3. It's a bug, honestly. The SS always bites on the TE seam, even with an outside receiver going deep.

1. I'll need better players then to make up for what we're missing. Thanks

2. Mainly the Singleback 3 WR Set

3. Thanks for letting me know about that bug.

Weak shifts and selective blitzes is the way to go versus the singleback-3. Be careful with the weak side pitch, but be aware that passes come out of that set also.

Off the top of my head, that formation allows an offense to run a pitch left or 3 pass plays, both with 5 eligible receivers and no extra blockers.

A nickel with a weak shift is a good place to start. The coverage you use really depends on what you are trying to stop. There are also some blitzes that work pretty well against both the pitch left and the passing plays,

An easy thing to do is find a team you respect and find a close game they played recently. Go into the pbp and use the find function on the word, "pitch". Look to see how they defended any pitch left as it will be that formation.

Between the teams I GM I've used at least 4 tactics to stop the pitch left- that is pretty easy to do. The issue is which of them also work against the pass plays out of that formation.
