Now that half of the season is over and the race for playoff glory has begun; every win counts. As the Western elite battle each other for bragging rights and home field rights; your game plan is never more important. Strength of schedule meant nothing opening day, but when one loss can change the standings for multiple teams; the pressure has never been so strong.
As the bottom dwellers think of the next season they prey upon the opportunity to knock off a playoff team and ruin someone's postseason dream. For them, there is nothing greater than the opportunity to say "I beat them!" This is the time of the season where teams overlook the minuscule teams and focus on their rival. Where the David's of GLB knock down the Goliath's everywhere.
This is the second half of the season...
Sierra Vista Buffalos at Caprica Buccaneers - As the playoffs appear on the horizon no one looks forward to seeing the Buccaneers' name. Almost as bad seeing the devil itself; the Buccaneers are truly a curse upon GLB earth. The only thing worse than the Buccaneers are the Vikings! Even then with all of that being said; the only Vista the Buffalos will see will be the Buccaneers putting up a hundred on them.
Buffalos 13 - Buccaneers 125
Rapid City Rushmores at San Jose SkyForce - Chemistry...I took chemistry twice in High School and never figured out why a team in GLB would lose to another team it was evenly matched up against, but that doesn't mean it can't occur. Chemistry...it can account for a lot of things in life, but one thing it can't account for is how Sioux Falls took down the Rushmores. Game planning and player builds mean a lot more than levels or scouting reports or chemistry. One chemistry problem that is easy to solve is when you combine Rushmores and SkyForce. You get...a blow out!
Rushmores 68 - SkyForce 10
Uncle Sam's Misguided Children at Sioux Falls Storm - The mighty silent killers of the West; maybe they should be called the earthquakes? Of course they would have to be the San Francisco Earthquakes, but that wouldn't change the fact that the Storm can take the Western elite. Are the Misguided Children part of the Western elite? If so, does that mean the Storm win? USMC has proven they are a top team and a team to be reckoned with, but so have the Storm. Unless you're Caprica; not many can say they took down Rapid City. This game has playoff implications written all over it and is my GAME OF THE WEEK!!!!!!
Misguided Children 28 - Storm 30
Chicago Maroons at Anchorage Wolves - Three games ago the streets of Chicago were lined in gold and everywhere you walked people wore Maroons' jerseys and everyone knew Leroy Killya by name. For those in the East reading this; Killya is one of the fiercest SS's in the West. However, in the last three games the nightmare of Chicago has begun and yet another game they must deal with the Wolves. As Killya matched up with the best he lead their defense, but couldn't stop the competition. What will they do now?
Maroons ? - Wolves ?
San Diego Silver Shock at DVDTalk Otters - The Shock to me is San Diego's defense. Their offense rivals most in the West, but their defense can't stop teams. If they want to become apart of the elite, they must address this issue. Does that mean the Otters swim on to victory? Well it's hard to say because Otters may not put up a lot of points, but their defense more than makes up for it. A true battle between an offensive force and a defensive giant; does defense win Super Bowls?
Silver Shock 21 - Otters 30
Death Valley Shadowblades at Ivalice Tacticianers - As the Shawdowblades aren't exactly coming out of the shadows; they wind down their beautiful season are about to begin everyone's nightmare. The finish off one of their last games against the Tacticianers who don't stand up as much of a challenge. The Shadowblades need to begin preparation for their run for the top.
Shadowblades 50 - Tacticianers 17
Midwest Mayhem at Southside Spartans - The Mayhem are still finding their nitch here in BBB #15 and they've struggled to find their playoff glory. Each season they get closer and closer, but somehow find themselves just short. This week they find themselves up against the mighty Spartans. This is no battle of 300 as Mayhem is sure to occur in the Southside.
Mayhem 38 - Spartans 14
Pittsburgh Highlanders at Rocky Mountain Thunder - If I remember correctly every time a Highlander killed one another, a lightning strike would hit the Highlander. So does that mean Thunder came before the Lightning? I guess that mean the Thunder should strike first, but does Lightning strike more than once? The Thunder have had a tough season, but so have the Highlanders. The Thunder do come from down under; don't they?
Highlanders 17 - Thunder 40
