Ok, my CB...

Bob Graber - lvl 28 http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=500083

Strength: 16.32
Speed: 74.11
Tackling: 21.38
Agility: 49.37
Jumping: 23.37
Catching: 27.6
Stamina: 43.37
Vision: 56.31
Confidence: 27.82

... simply barely ever gets thrown at. I was at 1st CB, then requested to be moved to 2nd to see if it would solve the problem and it didn't. Other CB on the team is also lvl 28, but until today I was lvl 24.

Week 1 - Thrown to 2/78 attempts.
Week 2 - Thrown to 3/35 attempts.
Week 3 - Thrown to 3/12 attempts.
Week 4 - Thrown to 6/29 attempts.
Week 5 - Thrown to 3/25 attempts.
Week 6 - Thrown to 1/20 attempts.
Week 7 - Thrown to 3/40 attempts.

I'm always close coverage and go for interceptions. Of those attempts, I've had 4 completed all year. Bob has 21 tackles, but almost all of them are special teams, and just one interception. The other corner on my team has 49 tackles and 4 interceptions. This isn't an insult to him because he is a very good corner, but his stats are higher due to the drastically higher attempts he has.

I normally do not have a slot reciever on the right side, and I'm matched up 1v1, man-to-man. I will get a TE sometimes, and a few of my tackles are from TE's and swing pass to RB's.

Is this a GLB tendancy with CB's that play on the right side, and should I expect this to continue?

Not being thrown to is generally a good thing.

I realize that, I'm not a football moron, or a stat hog.

It just seems like I don't get to help my team much, and we need all the help we can get. I'm not ever cared to be a GM/Owner, but you can't purposefully not throw to a side right? I was just curious if this is just a game fluke/bug, because watching my CB play 80 plus plays, and get 2-3 tackles and maybe 1 PD is boring.

how do you find out how many times you get throw at? Is it by watching the replays or is there a script that does it for you?

I am having the same problem on my CB. Currently cb #5 so I am not getting many snaps but when I am on the field I don't get to see much action come my way. as Lostpeon had said i know that it is a good thing.

Sadly, I went thru while watching the NFL games today, and just watched every pass that was middle/right thrown to. Didn't take too long honestly, because of how few it shows up.

My CB is averaging 99 plays a game, and my team isn't that great so the defense is on the field alot. Now of course some of that 99 is special teams.

My guy experiences this also. I think its just because you shut the opponent receiver more or less down. Meh at least I get some tackles from special teams

If you picked this position for stats, you should reroll. The ideal cover corner doesn't get thrown on. If you think you aren't helping your team by completely removing a receiving option, you're sadly mistaken. The vast majority of the time, I cover the opposing #1 (production wise, lot of people throw a garbage receiver in the 1 spot) wide receiver and have, minus one game, shut them all down. That far, far more useful than picks and passes deflected, and especially more useful than tackles.

Edit: For shits and giggles, I threw your numbers into the coverage spreadsheet and, picking a random yardage of 20 allowed on four passes, you scored a 61.19 for the season. Keep in mind, the best I've seen from anyone for year long is 82.25. You get penalized long term for this spreadsheet, so that's a damned good score. That's how you're helping your team.

Set his coverage distance to Medium. He has enough speed/agility/vision to bait the QB into throwing it towards him, and then closing in for the PD/INT.

Doing this is a horrible idea. Your job is to shut out players, not pimp your own stats. Doing this gives you more masses defensed, sure, but you also give up a lot more plays. Imo, stick to the game you're playing and learn how to really appreciate the position.

yeah... ints are great but your team needs you to shut down wide receivers.. best way to do that is have the qb looking elsewhere... good coverage leads to sacks

Well, played a game today and was lit up for 4 catches for 43 yards. Granted it was against an undefeated opponent who outmatches us pretty good, but still. Was thrown at 6 times in 34 attempts.

Ok, I understand how good it can be for a defense in a real football game. Like I've said before I'm not a football moron. But I've never cared to be a GM/Owner in this game, so does this game allow you to utilize a "shutdown" corner is basically what I am getting at. Can you blitz a safety just off the CB's side, can you shift a cover zone away from the CB side?

After today, its fairly obvious my CB is not a shutdown corner.

As far as I can tell, there's no real option to roll defensive coverages the way you're looking for. It doesn't seem to exist in the code. The only thing it might allow you to do is utilize more cover one and cover zero than cover two, which frees up a safety for something else. As far as not being a shutdown corner goes, even the best have bad days some time. And one thing I did notice is you seem to fair much, much better than most cornerbacks in the run game, as well as coming off your own man to go after the intended receiver, so don't get too down on your last game.
