happened a few times during the game, he seems to 'freeze up'. He's a level 24 pretty well built corner against a lvl 20 WR

defensive scheme, really fast or agile receiver, slow cb bad play recognition, idk I'd probably have to see both builds to give an sctual answer

Could also be that his tactics options are set to frequently go for the interception. If so, make him check back to medium, because otherwise he'll get burned a lot without getting interceptions for it.

Your defensive formation there is wrong. 3rd & 9 they come out in a base offense 2 backs and 1 TE with 2 WR's and you have 6 DB's in. You must have your calls based on down and distances and not by formations. Thats how you beat a cover 2 deep middle or deep sideline routes. The WR just made a football play on your guy. It happens.

thanks guys, I found out the cb was aggressive coverage.

Also, tj, what's wrong with dime against 3rd and long? Is it just the cover 2 thats the issue?

6 db's seem out of place when they only have 2 wr's? Id rather have LB's out there in that situation.

Pump Fake. That's why the CB stopped moving. He needs more vision and Super Vision.

Pump Fake is getting adjusted so it won't be that bad, though.

I don't see how having dime in any way caused this issue. The WR beat his heads-up man. Not that the extra CBs helped in this situation, they never got near the play. However, LBs would presumably have been even further away, unless they have CB like speed, agility and vision - at which point, who really cares what position is by their player name?

Only things that would mitigate this particular play call-wise would be using Cover 0 to double the WR or playing long coverage.

We've had a problem with our CB in that position too.

Though, he's got 70+ vision and 9 super vision...

I ment use the LB's to bring the heat in a know passing D&D. Most real world football teams would not run that many DB's vs that offensive set. I know vision vision and more vision. I'm more like scheme scheme and more scheme. Out think 'em.

I don't disagree in real world football, but this is only an approximation. Bringing the blitz is markedly less effective here than in RL and LBs are markedly better in coverage here than in RL. Since you can't fully implement your schemes - and more importantly, since there's no benefit to disguising vs. telegraphing your D - it's hard to get too shifty.

Yes, if you're going to drop 6 DBs on 2 WRs, go Cover 3 in this situation IMO.
