I just made a corner the other day so he's still level one and I want the best advice on where to take his build early

I want him to be able to stick with his man as well as possible, I assume speed will be one of the most important stats to get up there

Thanks for all your advice

I'd say hard cap speed at 61, dont just stop at 48...But opinions are just that, opinions. It depends what you want to do. If you want a shutdown CB in every sense of the term, you need to hard cap your speed, at the very least, to keep the WR from being thrown to as much as possible.

Ah ok

Excuse me for being dumb, but where to the hard and soft caps lie, 48 and 61, and are there more after

I've never actually had a good player to be honest, I just started really playing last season

IMO hard-capping Speed isn't really necessary. 70 speed is sufficient to be pretty darn good, and you can easily get there with soft cap + equipment.

Basically though, most people agree to get to the 1st caps in Speed, Agility and Vision ASAP. After that there are several ways you can go, all of which are reasonably good:
-Get a solid foundation in SAs
-get to the 2nd cap in Speed and/or Agility (probably Agility if your equipment is going to Speed)
-work on secondary attribs like Jumping, Tackling, Strength, Catching, Confidence..
-Could even try something new and crazy, like max Sticky Hands
Probably you'll want to work on several of those at once, eg. training up Jumping while spending points on SAs.

2 rules of thumb:
1) Whatever build style you pick (Agility, SAs, Jumping, whatever), try and focus on it to get the best effect. Just remember to not completely neglect the other stuff too.
2) If you get lost and don't know what to do, get more Super Vision - it makes your player smarter, which makes him a little better at pretty much everything.

GL, and try not to get burnt!
