My level 12 pure speed WR was awesome today he's kinda similar to flames WR with 79 speed, 23 agility and 20 catching. He had 6 catches, 126.5 yards, 2 TDs and 0 drops.

I wonder if anyone's tried an all speed WR with low agility but 10 in first step.

why in gods name would anyone do that? The SP it would take to get to 10 first step is enough to raise any roll to the agility soft cap.

I actually created my WR mid-season 3 to do exactly this. Level 19 he has 89 speed, but when season 4 rolled along and agility became important I buckled and decided to invest in agility. Now I have 50-something in agility.

But this brings up another question, what next? Do I continue to pump agility to the next cap (shot in the dark: that'd cost about 18 SP?) or should I use all of that SP in First Step? I can get first step up to 8 including custom equipment with about the same amount of SP it would take to raise agility by 9.

Gah, help.

Put the points in first step. That way I can find out if it's worth doing it for my WR!

I think first step would trump agility, otherwise why even invest in it? If I designed the game, First step would be chance based with 11 points given you better than a 50% chance of triggering an acceleration boost which would provide better acceleration than high agility. Those who choose to invest high in agility rather than first step would have a more consistent, albeit slower acceleration. One would be constant acceleration at a decent clip (High agility) and the other would be a random highly explosive burst acceleration (First Step). Putting the two together would be deadly. That's how it would work if it were my game.

Well unfortunately it isn't your game. So we don't know how it'll work.

Chance vs consistency.

Also, if first step triggers once (off the line) and you catch the ball and therefor slow down to do so, how likely is it to occur a second time in the same play?
