1. Assume no blitz, does cover 3 always have a FS and 2 CB defend deep zone? Does cover 4 always have FS, SS, and 2 CB in deep?

2. If defense blitz FS in cover 3, will SS take his position?

3. If 1 and 2 are true, my last question is, who will take FS position when defense blitz FS in cover 4?


I know it's probably not a good idea to blitz FS in cover 3 and cover 4, I'm just curious about the above situations.

1. Yes. Just divide the deep half of the field into thirds and one player is responsible for his third. Same with cover four, but it's now quarter or the field.

2. Thats insane from a cover three in RW football. The free will be coming from about 12-15 yards. You cant disguise blitzs. If you could WALK the free up close to the LOS, then it would work. Thats how you can pull off a Robber cover 3. Hopefully the free jumps into a passing lane and gets the pick.

3. Nobody takes anyones position when you blitz. Football teams will show a coverage pre-snap then roll into a different one if thats what you mean. Thats the gamble. When you blitz your hoping the QB and WR dont adjust their read and route to exploit your blitz.
