I've used kwiksurveys.com for polls I've conducted in my team forum (i.e. voting on team captains). I'm not sure if this would help you but it is free and fairly easy to setup and use.

How would I get the entire GLB community to participate and not just the agents with strong feelings one way or another?

That's the problem with these polls in general, because only the people with strong feelings participate, and that problem would be more exacerbated by having it off-site and only generating responses from the agents who frequent certain forums.

I could see the appeal of this to some, but I would have little to no interest at all.

Post the survey link in the GLB forums asking people to participate. I think most agents tend to check in there at least a few times a week. A few hundred responses should give you a large enough survey population which could be fairly accurately projected to refelect the GLB community as a whole. Make sure you limit responses to one per IP address though or you'll have the same person taking it multiple times and skewing the results.

At least that's what I would do but I'm no expert.

Not sure why im on dont like it list (maybe because its so old i did and dont remember) i think this is cool and if it could be implemented id like it.

You know, the current unofficial poll (located at the bottom of the first page of this thread) is 281 agents for the idea, 9 agents against the idea, a handful of agents who have been both for and against it, and one who says hell no.

If you assume that any poll conducted off-site will pretty much only attract people who frequent the main GLB forums, and you assume that this thread is much of the same, what better poll is there than the one we already have?

Our poll has the name of every single GLB user who has posted a comment here (but only if they specifically expressed support or opposition) and it's overwhelmingly in favor of the idea. Ideally, I would hope that fact alone would hold some weight with GLB. I've maintained this thread and kept track of 94 pages of comments, gradually incorporating them into the constantly updated OP until we refined it to where it is now.

The idea itself only requires a very minor change -- or at least we've been led to believe it's a minor change based on comments from Bort, that the only issue was not being able to get rosters below 20 men.

I'll happily do a poll if you think it will generate a different response, but if you really look at the names on my list, you'll see that it's likely we're just going to be diving into the same pool a second time.

Considering the ease of implementation, it seems kinda pointless to do a poll. All we really need to know is whether enough people are interested to fill X teams, where X is how many Bort wants to make.

How would people feel about the idea of an Iron Man Private Forum? Would be a nice place to discuss build strategies and find Iron Man teams/players... also, the total amount of invites would be a good gauge as to people that're really interested.
