funny thing is i didnt say anything incorrect. u admitted that ur experience in regards to the sport of football is what u see on this game and what u see on sundays and u base ur opinions/ thoughts off that. thats just like guy who only knows what he sees on law and order and basis his opinions/thoughts off that.

so y u keep posting on a topic u have little knowledge/experience of?

First - as to the luck element, beyond the balancing try to get the concept I am talking about. In a real football league the coach would like his game plan to matter more too. But the players have to execute that game plan and the quality of their execution varies not just on their physique and training but also their mood and random variations in attention span/distractions/choices and motivation from play to play. In real life some of that is random and some of it is the personality of the player but we can not sim personality (not that I havent suggested that, I have). But you can simulate the effect of them by varying the performance of the dots during the games. Think of it like a Streaky VA in use at all times with out the net positiive. It may not be something you want, but it would make the game a better simulation of the subject matter.

As to my team, what team? Most of them I have coaches for, and the minor teams depending on when it was I did not always pay as much attention to as possible but the last several seasons I have tried to keep up - though mostly by signing OC DCs. Rosters on the minor teams were often iffy, since I was feeding the best dots to the Miracle as much as I could manage, and they were free agent pick up teams anyway. If it was the Miracle them usually I have run that D and in that case ouch. But yeah I do not know my scheme. I have thought I did (it was mostly crush the run and it did okay with that for a while) but with changes it became ineffective and I have been scrambling to find a new concept that works. I kinda like what I have now but have some dot issues this season here and there.

And yes I would be pleased to tutor on a team of yours. Keep me in mind and send me a PM when the time comes.

Yes you did say something incorrect.

Like begining with the premise that you have to have anything to do with real life football to play this game.

Or that you have to be a midget girls football coach to know that 255-0 scores are ludicrously bad simulations of Pro Football.

Clue in - I don't care if you are Don Frakking Shula, it doesn't make your opinion of dot ball one iota more insightful than anyone else's.

It SHOULD, but the game is so badly designed it really wouldn't.

In these forums I do not claim to be profound.

I claim to be merely observing simple truths.

Like "gee golly, look at all these 100 point games. Did I buy an NBA Simulation??? What the %#@! is wrong with this game?"

Nothing profound in my observations, just truthfulness.

Whats profound is the code, as in profoundly stupid.

EDIT - PS if Bort should happen to wander in here, which one would imagine is unlikely, let me say that my extreme gab on the game is in response to the flame war tone of debate. The code is not really stupid. But man, dude. Seriously. Watch some games on Sunday and then check out the GLB scoreboards. Adjust programming accordingly, kay?

If 255-0 scores are happening, it is not between evenly matched teams. If any pro football team were to play any high school or middle school team and not hold back all game, it could easily be 255-0. That would be an equivalent skill difference to games that end 255-0. Also, WL teams very rarely score over 100 points, which is the highest level of competition in this game, if you are going to make a reference to pro football. There is nothing wrong with the code in this sense. The problem is the amount of teams and leagues, reg pro and D-leagues in particular.

6th grade school teams that go up against the college varsity squad deserve the 255-0 beatdown that comes their way. Making the sim even more random than it is and turning that beatdown into "only" a 35-0 game would be a HORRIBLE idea.

I've already argued with Yello about parity on NUMEROUS occasions. This is the true issue and it is going to be addressed by contraction and the new rules regarding promotion/relegation. There just are not 256 "pro-quality" teams out there to adequately support 8 competitive pro leagues.

Yello's response to this is a rather selfish one. He, for some reason, sees the pro leagues as the pinnacle of the game and doesn't feel like it is fair for him to be asked to sit at the "kid's table" that is regional pro. He is too tied to the name "pro" and does not want to give it up. In fact, if Bort/Catch would name the four new pro leagues as "elite pro" and left the existing pro leagues alone, he would probably be content even though he would still be on the third highest tier in the game.
