That's a whole other argument of whether the creation of the WL has weakened the game as a whole (I tend to agree with you that it has - as long as there is a target for people to compare their e-peens, they will shoot for that target).
But to think changing the name of casual or creating a casual World League will alter it's perception is false hope IMO.

also Avenger comparing a PRO team and WL I agree with you. People will try to get their Dots to a regular Pro and WL team.
But casual is a different animal all together. people that do not play casual do so for a reason not what the name of the leagues are. seriously take the time to make a post in GLB main or any other high traffic forum and ask if casual Pro was renamed to Casual WL if that would change their mind about playing the game.
I would love to see GLB actually do one of their little vote things for all of GLB and just ask if the name of casual Pro was changed to casual WL if they would start playing casual then.

I sign with the owner, not the team or the league type. If there is someone I like that owns a team in Casual Pro and has a need for my dot, I will sign with the CasPro team. If there is someone I like in WL and has a need for my dot, I will sign the dot with the WL team.

I am the same I have always played both aspects of the game both regular and casual.
But as a casual owner when I actually tried to recruit you always got the same answer when you got turned down. and that was I don't play casual or my Dot is built for regular leagues. and that was happening after winning a championship and just trying to fill 1 or 2 holes in the team. I myself have turned down friends casual teams to sign onto a regular team because my dot was specialized for a certain role. most of the time I do not even look at whether a team is casual or regular unless it is certain builds like a blitzing LBer or blitzing safety. then those players go to regular.
regardless I am done arguing over a name I hope that Bort and Co. does change it and that it does help recruiting and gets more people playing casual. But I won't hold my breath.

But its also no doubt true that the game play differences between the two leagues because to the DOT owner there IS no difference in play. If he is not calling plays or scouting in some way then the leagues are identical to him.
Therefore the dot owners only reason to not play casual is the hype, the spin, and the impression.
And a good deal of those people aren't thinking much about the choice at all.
Therefore changing something utterly superficial would matter.
And besides if you make a WL you make a challenge to strive for in Casual and that is a substantive play because it makes the play have a "point", a goal.
