Catch - what are your thoughts on cookie cutter builds under both systems?

Could someone explain this to me
Player Archetypes
Level 1-21 3 points total
Level 22-29 2.25 points total (25% reduction from Level 1-21 total)
Level 30-37 1.6875 points total (25% reduction from Level 22-29 total)
Level 38+ 1.265625 points total (25% reduction from Level 30-37 total)
Base Levels
Majors +.5 (if 4), +.67 (if 3)
Minor +.25 (if 4), +.33 (if 3)
My mind just isn't processing this correctly.

Also, there will be an even larger generation gap on players made before this change goes into effect. Day 33 centers are going to be a popular choice.

It's the same as the current system, drake.

I must be missing something because to me it looks like this will encourage mass cookie cutter builds.
Maybe a power back might want first step now if its considered a penalized SA every power back will build the same way with power thru and lower shoulder maxed out.
Maybe a strength based NT might wanna try having shed blocks as a SA, with this system its now penalized and NT
s will all max out break thru and wall because thats whats basically being encouraged.
Unless im missing something or dont understand, all I see happening is everyone being encouraged to build players the same way.

like maybe a 'hard hitter' LB gets a natural +5% force fumble (5% is made up - I'm thinking something meaningful but not overpowered)
man to man CB could get 5% INT
some things to further differentiate the archetypes beyond just the major/minor skills (which will certainly make a huge difference...bigger for some positions than others)
we won't be doing % increases - that's AEQ's purpose. We are going to be looking at adding a special SA for each archetype (as per the OP). After discussion on this has died down, I'll start working on that with a Suggestions post.

(in your powerback example) Just because First Step will have a penalty, does not mean you'll want to ignore it.

I never understood the current system, that's why my builds suck

I see it as a more realistic approach to real life football. Peyton Manning isn't going to become a scrambling qb. Cedric Benson isn't going to become an elusive back. When these guys come out of college they already have a label.

Does this mean no centers/g/ot's are eligible to play special teams after s14?
No they can play ST's, they can't just choose the archetype.

I don't like it.
It has taken me 5 seasons to understand the current system.
I don't have the time to learn how to build, recruit, and OC all over again.
You guys are going to make this so complicated its going to be to hard to do for those of us who don't do GLB as a full time avocation.
