How about
Gaia/Tellus
Gaia is the Greek God that personifies the Earth, and Tellus (aka terra marta) is the Roman counterpart.
Doesn't get much more worldly than that.

My apologies. I thought your reference to Axis & Allies was in some way related to the classic-but-subpar boardgame, and I was just suggesting a vast upgrade for your personal collection.

Turtling-in-Western-Russia dicefest FTmeh.
Good: Nexus Ops
Better: Starcraft-The Board Game
Best: Diplomacy (just make sure you have an adequate supply of friends as you will burn through them quickly)

Yeah, Russia was always the most boring country, but the rest of the game was intriguing imo. Not greatly complex, but a fun game imo
