Another update. With the extra time for defense Windhoek has replied to accept the challenge. We're just waiting on approval for the date.

Windhoek more then deserves this shot. I'd still like a Bonn/Krazy rematch later in the season even it is just for fun

Given the parameters of who your opponent must be from, I totally agree.

Very good to hear. Should be a solid match.

We've also been considering changing how we determine who gets a shot. I'm all for the idea to get all regions involved, but there also is truth to the fact that some regions have plenty of worthy teams - and if we make them wait 2-3 seasons to get their chance, maybe that doesn't provide the best matchups for the trophy.

If anyone has thoughts on how we can better select opponents, while making it fair for all regions, feel free to shoot me a PM.

Pretty simple. Just make all tournament games and league playoff games mandatory and automatic tournament defenses. Then on top of that say that each league needs to have a title shot every X days.

Update again:

OK, the Tournaments mod didn't like our proposed defense date because it was too late and asked if we could do it sooner. We're dependent on WWR for that so I forwarded the latest date to them. If they can't do it sooner then the Tournaments mod suggested we involve one of the lower rated leagues in the meantime and then play Windhoek as intended for the second defense if we win.

That is indeed one of the options being considered. Another is to maintain the current setup, but allowing every third defense be an open defense where any region can challenge and have it not count toward their rotation total.

How'd you know what the game ID was?

The game ids for friendlies are assigned in the order that they are accepted by the challenged team. Right before I sent the challenge to WWR I fished around to find the current end point of game ids, then I sent the challenge. Luckily the WWR owner was online at the time and accepted right away (which assigned the game_id) and I had the link in two clicks.
