jumping helps in all of these diving tackles, int's, deflecting, and possibly more. catching only helps with catching the ball, how could catching be better?

Seriously just use some logic. As someone who's played CB in real life I wonder how exactly does jumping make me that more adept at deflecting passes?

If I can reach a pass when I jump 20 inches high, how is being able to jump higher going to help me deflect a pass I can already reach? Jumping won't help you reach further forward or to the side, that's catching.

Bort has said that when CBs get their PD roll the WR gets an anti-swat roll and that the WR's Jumping Catch SA greatly affects the CBs chances to deflect the pass. If you read the Jumping Catch SA description it says it gives a bonus to catching when jumping, this implies that when a player jumps it's harder to reach the ball and only catching affects that not jumping.

Since when does Bort know anything about how football is played? There are so many things in this game that does not make since at all. I think Bort's football experience consist of bag of nachos and Tecmo Ball, maybe Madden (but judging by the plays he has created, I doubt it).

One of my CB had 6 Ints last season, so I upped his catching from 50 to 60 this season, after 5 games, he has 0. If the sole purpose of catching is to help increase the number of Ints, then it's really a waste after soft cap imo.

I will change my position on this if he averages 1 int per game for the reminder of the season. Until then, I pretty much wasted 20 SPs on him.

At least we can agree that vision is the best. You like ints more than I do clearly.

Not giving up any catches in a game >>> Getting the occasional INT but getting burned often.

Therefore jumping >>> Catching

Getting your catching higher than jumping and getting pd's anyway and not getting burned anyway> being a shut down boring guy.

I only read until about page 4 since I lack dedication to long threads...

At any rate, Vis mentioned that his theory hasn't been tested since their are no CBs with greater catching than jumping. I offer up my CB.

He currently has 3-capped catching and 2-capped jumping. Last season he played with 3-capped catching and 1-capped jumping. Any of you are welcome to watch tape and make your own judgements. He's also a good bit slower than most CBs and plays on aggressive fwiw, though I tend to be rather fond of how he plays.

not quite sure how higher catching than jumping would mean you get burned, since in order to get burned, the WR has to get behind and past you. have either or higher than the other wont help you if youre getting burned. vision (to avoid fakes) and speed are the only things that will help there.

A CB on my slowbuild team is toying with high catching and jumping. Results so far are promising.

It gets more tough as he levels and gets into higher leagues. Tell him to keep raising catching and invest in sticky hands when his int's start to go down.

since CBs are getting the first roll at the ball, wouldnt it make more sense to try to keep yourself in position more rather than risk being in position and luckily getting interceptions?

well...since you do get first crack...why not just try and catch it?

Is this dude really 103 jumping? Cause if he is.. without looking through plays, he looks solid. I've heard he was good, too.
