Going into it I had a few concerns. With McCain being widely perceived as superior on foreign policy and defense would he be able to take it to Obama. Also, would Obama be able to connect with your average person and make people feel like he's out to help them or would he come across as an academic elitist.
I think McCain did, like I said, better than I actually expected him to but fortunately Obama did just the same.
At times the way Obama tried to interrupt frustrated me. Initially, when McCain would go quiet and allow Obama to steal the stage, it worked. Later when McCain continued to talk through it Obama appeared to be impatient and easily riled. I wouldn't be surprised if McCain takes to stretching the truth about Obama further in future debates because it clearly bothered Obama to be misrepresented. McCain's shit eating grin after insults and attacks and his arrogance frustrated me just the same as well. Oh and McCain's right arm also pissed me off.
Obama was able to appear like he was ready to lead the country and even more importantly, I think he was convincing in that he could in fact connect and relate to what the average American is truly concerned with at this point in time and that he could possibly help.
Yeah I'd say they came out relatively even on this one. It was funny to hear McCain constantly say: "What senator Obama obviously doesn't understand is this..." In the half hour to fortyfive minutes i watched, McCain showed he has the experience edge over Obama in foreign relations, while both had similar ideas on how to deal with other countries.. The thing I don't get, is: Why did Obama say that he, too, had a wrist band and his represented not letting more mothers see their children die... Yet he wants to send more troops to the middle east? He also said in 16 months he will have done "some" removal of troops.. not a full bail out like some people have interpreted in the past.

Obama is cleaning house with McCain...
No he isn't. It's very much equal right now.

CNN reviews seemed to put both candidates at a B overall.
