There were 3 types of people that were around when 2.0 was announced and this is the reactions each of those types had in general.

1. This is a terrible idea, at best it will split the current user base at worst it will cut both types of users out of either game because it will cause failure on both games.
2. This is an alright idea, perhaps we will see new users if they do this well.
3. This is a great idea, this game is played out.

The groups were all pretty equally distributed, which means around 60% or more of the user base desired GLB to something new coming to overtake it. It looks as though the 1s were the most correct, but we still don't know if it destroys both games or simply splits the user base. I will say that it is likely not going to split it unfortunately as it is clear 1.0 will need resuscitation that it seems clear the coders are not qualified to give. What I do know is if GLB classic ends the run, I will not be logging into the less interesting (imo) 2.0 any longer. It just doesn't interest me enough. As it is right now, I log in as I log in here.

Couldn't have said it any better. You are correct IMO.

I had the opportunity to be one of the testers for the Deuce and was excited at the prospect of what I anticipated it to be; a great improvement on 1 and something I would thoroughly enjoy playing.

Alas, I was so disappointed as the testing unfolded that I never returned. I can't see myself ever playing 2 as it is unimaginative and dreadfully boring IMO.

I still enjoy 1 to some extent. However, lack of advertising and new blood has made it somewhat stagnant. I am hoping WG takes steps to amp it up as they are the ones who would benefit most if that were to happen.

Long shot here but i hope at least some changes or any changes to the sim to spice things up a bit on glb1 would be nice... But I honestly don't see that happening. Glb2 replasys were just too harsh on my mobile devices. If I can't watch what my toon does, then I can't really build properly or adjust. That's just me. Replays on 2 are unwatchable so to me the game is unplayable. I tried, and everyone is entitled to their opinions. Glb1 is still enjoyable and just a few seasons away from complete frustration and rage quitting from an extremely stagnant Sim of big I and gl runs, interceptions in the dozens per game and no changes or adjust!ents in sight.

it boils down to watching the games, its pac-man. they arent watching, at least the guys here arent

they log in and train for a few seconds, some will watch some replays of an FF , KL, or TD.

we have several that havnt logged in to lolglb2 for weeks.

We did win a trophy, as we are finding out.

so... we're really, really, really excited abt that. Nobody even knows how or why it happened or that it even happened. edit: (Fu did it).

I would have liked to see my little GLB2 free nerd hammering 15 three pointers, or driving for huge dunks, or sending 12 of the opponents shots into the seats Mighta spent $$.

well done

First problem. You used the marketplace. And before you make the claim of you meant that the actual market is empty you would be completely wrong.

It has almost been 10 seasons of the same GL/Big I stuff. Surprised it took you this long to be over it.

It's virtually impossible to get GLB users to agree on something, but I think everyone agreed that they should have done a different sport in the second game. I haven't seen one person who didn't think it was a bad move to make the second game be another football sim. The fourth or fifth game, ok, but having your only two games both be football meant they were always guaranteed to cannibalize each other.

I think it is the other way around really. People are convinced that if they dog GLB2 enough that Bort will scrap it and come back here. That clearly is not the case however. Of course guys like TT and I would like more people to join up in GLB2 with teams because it actually is pretty fun. It was a fun first season all around.

For sure. People want GLB2 to fail because (a) they don't think that the market can support both games; and (b) they want Bort to come home and love them.

1) Since the new game was advertised to old GLB1 players via email blast, it brought a lot of people back to the game who hadn't visited a WG game in years.

2) Bort's not coming back. When GLB2 no longer needs his full attention, he'll be working on the next WG project.

3) Bort isn't the kind of person to dump a project he's spent so much time on like GLB2. That game could have 50 users and he would work on it until he was happy with it. But when he's done, he's looking forward, not backward.

Well, TT's post is not true. People haven't been saying anything much about how they hate 2.0 here for the last 2 months. That's because a certain admin has ran around slapping people with 30 day to perma bans and deleting their posts if they say anything negative about 2.0. For the past couple of months it's been either heap praise on 2.0 on this forum or get banned for a lengthy period. So let's not pretend 2.0 has been carrying the real GLB.

Well, obviously this thread is 8+ pages of "your statement is a lie."

So, to paraphrase, they created GLB2 so peeps would realize how good GLB1 really is?

I don't think you know what paraphrasing means. What you did is to take my main idea, reverse it, and then attribute it back to me.

I've already explained to you why people that are strictly loyal to the real GLB wanted the second game to do well. We figured there would be a trickle down effect if the new game was a hit. That GLB would benefit from the users brought in to play the new game. Even after it was announced the second game would be another football sim we still had the same hope despite the fact we knew better. I read many times where someone post something along the lines of "I hope 2.0 does well and then the new guys want something more and come to GLB".

The "us vs. them" mentality was born by a few people that allowed alpha tester to go to their head. The same few people that are still pretending as if 2.0 has been a success. And obviously you learned nothing from GLB. Bort will most likely abandon 2.0 until the release of the third game is near and then he will have a million updates in the changelog for 2.0 in a very short span.

For someone who doesn't like the past rewritten, you sure do make up your own version of it quite a bit.
