Those that do a good job (KingDan23) get thanked. The problem is that most of you are terrible, in large part because the way GLB chooses people for anything naturally targets terrible people.

I don't think it is a terrible game. Quite the opposite, I love the game in most of the aspects that make it a game. It is quite irritating to see moderators continually post statements like that, because it only shows that you dont even understand the nature of the problem. It has already been quantitatively confirmed that you do get thanks, in the form of daily flex stipends, as well as an aire of superiority that some (certainly not all) mods carry around the forum with them.

I think the state of the forum moderation is a symptom of the lack of direction and general cares from the present administration rather than personal failings or whatever..

i agree with most points. Personally I wish we could see more interaction from moderators in terms of increasing social activity on the site such as performing league break downs, match break downs, rankings etc. That might not be your roll, but it seems like locking threads is all that happens, which provides a negative stigma. With so many moderators on the "flex-roll" you would think bort would shelve most of them that dont do much and get some other positions to liven up forums.

Excellent point. For daily flex stipends I would make write ups and do a lot more for the site. If all that is going to happen is locking threads then it should not even take a handful of people to moderate the entire site. All falls into the lack of direction and general cares by present administration =\

Not really the lack of cares but more so the forum rules are currently ambiguous. This is something they have been working on a lot lately and hopefully it makes the overall forum experience a lot better for everyone. I can say it certainly seems like it would from looking at it myself, but only time will tell whether it does when all laid out for everyone.

fwiw I think I have put in some good quality time for the game outside of my modding duties as have some other moderators. Not saying all so clearly I understand what you are saying. But they also haven't been asked to either.

There are a few that have added a tremendous amount to the game. bhall's OC forum is one of those things.
For the most part, most of the mods are labeled as asses because numbnutts force them to be. I am sure that they would be happy if they never had to lock another post or ban another person. We, and I say We because I have been warned and banned for brief periods of time, paint them into a corner where they have to be an ass, then we want to complain about how they do things. I have tried to just stay out of the bs for the most part and when i do need a mod for something, they usually oblige pretty quickly

Well, I think some do actually do these things. In Casual Pro I do up the All Pro game, we were doing a HOF (it's on standby), and many regular threads (coming/going, weeklypicks, etc).

I know Kingdan and/or Romo do similar for WL.

So that stuff does happen.

It does indeed happen, and I'm not even suggesting that a Mod that doesn't do that kind of stuff is pointless to have around. I'm just concerned that when the hundreds/thousands/whatever-the-number of the rest of us are invited over to the new site that DIRECTION FROM THE TOP is in place that *welcomes* topics that provide constructive feedback of the product. Too many times with the original GLB it took the customer base posting 30 threads in the main forum for anything to get changed because the first 25 were reflexively locked as being against the forum rules. So long as the posting is respectful, it should be welcomed, particularly if what is being discussed has the potential of improving the game.

ill probably do more rankings/write ups in GLB2. I just don't have the muster to do it in GLB1 anymore. The games just aren't that entertaining to do so for me. I used to do that stuff all the time.

I would consider you to be one of the exceptions for any of the points I have made

1. Fix forum rules to be more specific. This will fix moderators avoiding enforcing because they are too weak of a person to enforce the rules. In addition, it gives users a reference if a moderator is dictating policy instead of enforcing it to complain to admins about a moderators governorship. The rules have specific examples and also "gray" areas. These "gray" areas need clarification with specific examples to help solve lines of enforcing/not enforcing rules instead of it being left to interpretation.

2. I'll argue the moderators having players on teams. I would determine a better solution. There have been numerous examples of moderators not enforcing rules (e.g. using the gray areas of the rules or saying they send a PM to stop it but they never do) against another agent because the moderator have players on that team.

3. Add an "org" chart or whatever so a user can find the appropriate higher level moderator or admin if there is a problem with a moderator. I hate having to hunt down higher level moderators when a moderator is not doing their job. I get the "he's not below me, or he's not in my area" responses.

Should just get rid of all mods and have the admins handling customer support mod the forums.
