Ha, I figured you have to get some upsets at some point given the rules about redundant picks. Why waste the time being right for 10 weeks and then having to come up with a much harder upset late in the season?

If I get it now, I'm sitting pretty. If not, I don't have to think about the contest the rest of the season. You can see, the most logical choice is to pick a week 1 upset.

I disagree with your logic here. There is a lot of unknown in the first few weeks on the season. A preseason monster might fade away, and a sleeper that no one has on their radar might emerge. If you pick some obvious one sided games in the beginning, you have a better sample to base your upsets on towards the end.
