What exactly do you gain by rotting him - at this point neither Tom nor the player is going to want to play on the same team - so you're not "teaching him a lesson" - Sending a message to other players - sure "Don't sign a multi-year contract with me". It serves no purpose, apart from the punishment thing which is kind of hollow and very double-edged.

Restructuring his contract was the right thing to do -kudos, too bad it went downhill from there.

I still say release or trade him and stop wasting each others time, I know I will.

I wish both parties good luck

I agree, it's just a game. I would sit him on the bench and let him rot. He obviously does not care about his player production if he is not wearing equipment. I don't see what the rush could possibly be to switch teams mid-season. Just play it out and move to another team the season after.

Wow this thread is getting famous.

So let me get this straight - an Agent doesn't want to play for the team, the situation blows up, everyone hates each other and the final outcome is that you end up paying his player to just sit and train????

Why not trade him and get some cash for him?
Because he gets XP in this outcome.

why argue this much over a game - there is strife enough to go around without making more - especially over a game that is supposed to be enjoyable for everyone, call me naive but I actually play this to relax - not to get even more stressed out.

So he didn't want to stay on the team and maybe he had a friend go ask about a trade - h*ll maybe he didn't - so what.

If he insulted you make a note of his agents name and avoid that in the future - but why you would want to drag it out is beyond me - I wouldn't waste my energy like that.

You haven't read the thread I think.

Actually yes I did, I get that you feel insulted and jerked around, and if that pm said what I'm guessing it said - you are justified - but respectfully - two wrongs do not make a right.

If they truly did try to manipulate you - that was wrong but so is rotting him.

This could be a Kid, it could have been misunderstanding and misconceptions that got blown out of proportions, it could have been quite innocent, he could have been mislead by third party etc. etc.

But in the end you have a choice - take the high road and show that you are an exceedingly fair owner or get vindictive - speaking for myself I would have gone with the first option.

I mean for heavens sake - it's just a game.

Taking the high road when someone is trying to get their own way through lying isn't an option imo. People keep saying that Tom should show how classy an owner he is or whatever but is it really unclassy to punish a player for destructive behavior? If he just lets him go it sets the standard to the team that you can lie to tom and he'll let it go, you can be a douche to him and you'll get your way. From the way it sounds this guy is a complete tool, and the one thing all tools have in common is that if u give em an inch they take a mile. Not saying that you would necessarily have it happen again either way but the guy deserves to be benched after that so there's no reason not to unless you wanna go out of your way to be nice to someone that's a prick.

That's some bullshit. An owner just had a VERY public immature spat with a player that may or may not be deserved.

That can make it a lot harder to recruit quality players in the future, who might have a small fear that TC will one day turn on them too, and very publicly.

Is it fair? No. But TC hurt his image among the other agents/owners over this. Will that affect his FA Signings? Maybe. Maybe not. There will be no way to accurately know. But it's totally reasonable for a good teammate with great builds to have reservations about his potential new owner going batty on him. Maybe not right, but reasonable.

Needless to say, none of my recollections of her are anything close to positive.

cherrie was the "DC" of a team back in WE AA1 that had like 10 levels on every other team in the league, and she started constantly talking shit to the team my season 3 guys are on after beating us in the regular season, mainly about how great of a defensive coordinator she was (she wasn't) and how terrible our QB was. Being a DC myself, I asked the team owner if I could take a shot at OCing our rematch in the playoffs, because I knew everything she was doing stupid, and I felt I could exploit it. They were predicting stuff like 40-point wins against us, but this was the result:

http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=368303

She didn't post for two weeks, and then when she came back, she resumed weakly trying to talk smack to us after pulling off the biggest choke job in WE history (it was that big of a mismatch in terms of levels.) I think her team eventually gutted after she created a bunch of drama, last I remember she was offering in the league forums to send pictures of her chest to anyone who was interested. Class act all the way around.

Haha, I actually had a few players on the team in questions long before she arrived (three of them are now on the Golfers). Needless to say she was the main reason I left that team
