Well, if I understood correctly GLB is supposed to be closer to the NFL than NCAA. If this were college football I would tend to agree, but they are called professionals in the NFL because they aren't distracted by HFA like the college kids are.

-1 if GLB is closer to the NFL (which I would tend to say that it is)

+1 if GLB is closer to the NCAA

Tell that to the Seahawks, Packers, Bears, Patriots and Steelers.

Lets just keep it really simple. I like the idea of home field advantage. Lets consider doing it this way without any % to stats. When two teams play and fight it out to a tie, the home team is awarded 1 point for defending their turf from defeat. The home crowd goes home happy, and there is a something we could all point to as a definite home gield advantage.

http://www.stadiumsofnfl.com/capacity.htm

According to that, the general NFL stadium is in the 70 thousands. Let's assume they're at 80% capacity on average

http://www.collegecharlie.com/stadiums.html

Out of the big name programs on that list, only two or three are less than 80k and college fans tend to be a little more 'rambunctious' than NFL fans. Mainly because they're students, college kids, etc. I'd imagine a home game in one of those 100k+ stadiums would be more intimidating than an NFL game. Granted, I'd be nervous in both.

However, I'm not really for this. I think there are VAs that help with home field advantage, if you want that.

-1, that wouldn't be a fair way at all would cause alot of bitching compared to the other suggestions

I think the people that disagree with this are tending to believe this will be a huge stat boost that turns teams into the incredible hulk. It will be a boost to confidence and morale..MAYBE energy. These boosts will not swing a game that would normally be a blowout, it could however be the turning point in a close game...Which is what a homefield advantage is, a slight boost that actually makes being at home matter somewhat. I don't know why nobody cares that every game is on neutral territory, with the trade-off of getting concession money or not.

I don't think people fully grasp the concept.

This is some fancy thing that will just skew the poorly built sim even further. No. While it may be cool in a few seasons, there are way too many other issues at hand right now, and we need to focus on solutions for those instead of adding more gimmicks.

its not a gimmick, having trick plays is a gimmick, this is just a normal sports thing, its a basic tbh

In terms of a game, it's a gimmick. Trick plays are part of real life. Injuries are a part of real life, etc.

When I say "gimmick" I'm not talking about some fancy out of the ordinary thing. I'm talking about something not directly related to the sim at this point. What we need is a pure focus to logic, pathing, player 'abilities' etc. Not the play creators, home field advantage, injuries, dots, etc.

I agree, i'm think this is something that should be looked at after more bugs are ironed out. Idea's need to be discussed as they come though. Bort can wait to do these things till after, I personally wouldn't want this till the sim is more well done.

Love the idea of Home Field Advantage.

I also think everybody is exaggerating the effect this will have on any given sim.

+1 for OP
