i do try not to get into religious conversations, because usually they end up with the religious person coming to a point where they cant reconcile their own religion and end up spouting out the mind control mantra of 'you have to have faith' - the ultimate way of shrugging off any doubt.
but in the end it doesnt bother me what people believe so long as it is not detrimental to others. if there is an almighty being that will judge me some day, so be it, i live a good life whether or not i go to a church every sunday or read the words WRITTEN BY MEN who claim they know the word of 'god'.
in my mind, it is the people that get quoted who are the true sinners. how can man know the will of god and write it into their little verses? for example:

who is matt to tell me what to do? why is he so arrogant he thinks he can tell people how god wants them to behave?
i have actually recently been re-reading the old testament... trying to take the CHURCH/RELIGION out of it and read what the original authors were actually trying to say before greedy power hungry men decided to turn the meaning to their own advantages.
oddly enough, if you dont assume the word 'god' refers to a single almighty being, it truly sounds like an ancestral race that predated humans (and were not entirely humans) played a major role in the early days of mankind.
of course this cant be possible since people need to believe that they are special and special and special and super special and that god only created them and they are special and they could not have come from anything else that has more hair or jumps around on trees cause they are so fucking special.
to all you special people out there, i urge you to re-read the oldest versions of religious text, and try to see past the brain-washing that so many rulers over the years have used in conjunction with the notion of religion to create the world as they see fit.
