I have also contacted frankel about buying the team... I can pretty quickly add a bunch of level 14-17 players to the roster from our other teams, so that it should at least remain somewhat competitive.

1) I would just like to say this isn't exactly like team gutting, because I am not exactly trying to improve a friends team. I just want to help a team win it all. Also, DD sent me an offer so this must be legal.
2) I am going to keep the team intact except for my 6 players, then I will sell the team.

Yeah..I have to say that since he only took his players, I wouldn't call this gutting. What bothered me the most about the initial post was that he implied he was going to take along everyone else.

Moving his plyaers and keeping the rest in tact makes it legit IMO.

honestly though suhgamer, do you think FP is at all an issue to someone with 7 players fully decked out? Get some friggen GMs to help you out if you "dont have enough time," SO many people are looking for jobs. But it just seems to me that he wants instant wins, so he'd prefer to stack up another team at SEVERE expense to his own, as noted before and currently by level 6 o linemen (level 6? honestly? people are higher level from creating a character day 40 of last season and boosting, then boosting day 1 of this season. A lot of effort musta gone into rebuilding that O line).

Now, I can't diss him because he wants to win. I also can't be mad because he put HIS OWN players on the Denver Globetrotters, thus turning them into a superpower over night. BUT, I can be mad at the lack of solutions to the initial problem that lfrankel seems to have given himself - there were many options out there that could have helped the Gangsters and kept things the way they were, but instead he's taking the easy way out and leaving a team in the dust. Sure, we can say "oh they still have all these high level players," but who's to say that any of them even want to stay anymore? They have been kicked out of contention for good this season.

That is where my issue lies. Not in the legality, not in the stacking of the team. It's in the lack of caring to find a better solution, and now some 15 guys have been left in the dust.

edit: this all being said - i don't hate lfrankel26 - i'm just disappointed in the way this all turned out.

i'm only mad at the globetrotters for being monsters now, only a little more than i hate the perennial powerhouses. If you hadn't taken them, someone else would have anyways so that isn't really the issue to me. besides, you are a broncos fan.

i still hate you though.

I just feel bad for the guys left on the Gangsters.... this is why they need more rules on trades in this game....
the poor leftovers on the Gangsters get the shit end of the deal..one day their team is loaded with 18's the next day they are in the crapper..... it's a shame this is legal in GLB

I still argue that its not legal. It sure seems like a gutting to me--1/4 of the starters leave without replacements and leave the team as a non-viable entity. Sure, they threw some replacements in there after the fact, but nothing of value (no offense to those players).

It also is collusion, where two team owners make an agreement outside the boundaries of free agency and trades in order to move the assets of one team to another. No money or assets of any kind got moved FROM the Globetrotters--they just got a free prize because a team owner released players in order to bolster another roster.

I don't hate anyone involved. I understand frankel wanting to limit his time needed to play the game and the desire to be on a winning team. I don't blame the Globetrotters for picking up a great deal in the process. But, I hate this this kind of action even being able to occur.

Again, I'm going to have to say, it should not be allowed to happen.

D-will, I'm not unhappy by your choice to take them in. I think just about anyone would have done it. But, its in a little bit of bad taste to keep bringing it up here. And then ask for more.

frankel, I'm a bit surprised by how you handled it. Your desires and concerns as a player sometimes have to be overlooked as a team owner. I think you really missed that.

Mods, I'm unhappy with the voice that you have shown in this thread--those that seem to outright support this. the team guttig and collusion ideas have made a major impact in GLB; right before the first playoffs, after the end of the first season, and now throughout the entire second season. And to see some of the people that are closest to DD and Bort come out in support of this action, well, I take offense. And, to be honest, I gets to me on a personl level, because I have players on a team with just about every mod (save Tim). And, I will have to continue to interact with people that support a position I do not.

I;m not going to drag this through every forum in the game, nor am I going to persue Bort and DD to take action. But, nor am I going to sit by and say nothing.

One team had a solid chunk of its players removed without compensation, and left in a far worse state.

One team gained assets without having to put forth any assets of its own.

Gutting. Collusion.

Agreed and very well put. I am happy that not all of the players from the Gangsters went over to the new team, so that it is not completely gutted. However, damage was indeed done to that team and it's not like their contracts were up. Did the Gangsters owner release the players and then they signed with the new team, or did he trade them? I suspect they were released, but if they were traded, I would like to know what the Gangsters got in return for their assets.

This is my first season as part of the USA PRO (in Oakland) so I'm speaking as someone that is basically looking in from the outside on a lot of this ... I really don't get how this went down. No compensation was paid for the players? They just left one team and joined another as free agents? That does seem to be challenging the integrity of the league and consolidating power even further than it already is in a very top-heavy league.

I agree with drazz and others that have said that this is clearly "gutting". I don't know how it can be seen as anything else and the fact that it has been OK'd by the voices that matter really leaves a bad taste.

There will always be bad blood from some people in the league whenever movement happens. But its either allow people free choice of their players....or simply elimate trades, signings, releasing alltogether. Force everyone to stay with the team they start with. If not people will have free choice to sign wherever they want.

But bigtisme, shouldn't the Gangsters at least have been compensated for their loss via trade? I don't understand how it is ok to release someone under contract when the person doing the releasing clearly is not acting in the best interests of the team.

If this is going to continue being the league that everyone points to as "the place to play" in GLB, it will also continue to be viewed under a microscope and the actions taken here will be seen as examples for the rest of the community. If anything, this league should be held to a higher standard.
