Blazer I'll give ya that, USC can play well anywhere, even in snow.
Speaking of LSU, why did #1 Ohio State have to play for the championship IN Louisiana last year??? They play that game in Ohio in January and it's a different game! OSU earned home field but didn't get it. BCS Bowl system is a crock, we need playoffs like every other sport in the world!

Because that was the BCS title game that year, it's complete bullshit that LSU, USC, All of Florida, and Arizona, Arizona St. (Should they get there) have a chance at a home field National Championship game, that leaves the ACC, Big 10 and Big 12 teams fucked every time we have to go play a team in their back yard for a game of that magnitude. Make the Cotton bowl in Jerry's world a BCS bowl, and put it into rotation with the others, and make Detroit, or Minneapolis, one of the domed stadiums up North the same way,.

It's not our fault no one wants to visit your cities.

"Congratulations, you just won your conference title! We're sending you to Detroit!"
The "we shouldn't have to play in your backyard" argument is weak because the conferences agreed to do that years and years ago. The Rose Bowl is traditionally the Big 10 champ vs. the PAC 10 champ. Bowl games were meant to be a reward for those kids so the conferences chose locations that are nice to visit in the middle of winter. It wasn't just about field conditions, it was about the vacation for the kids. Who wants to vacation to Detroit, much less Detroit in the middle of winter?

I can't even argue that one...

Play the BCS title game in Hawaii then - that's neutral!
But you miss my point somewhat.
(Take this with due intent, I spent half my life in Ohio and half in So Cal/+ Phoenix - I'm an OSU, a USC and an ASU fan....)
In the NFL for instance, Pittsburgh has a big advantage to playing in cold weather. They train for it and plan for it. Then they get home field, bring in San Diego and have that. Same could be reversed, the the warm weather team has the advantage of training and playing for that. I played high school ball in Ohio, so I know the difference. It's a completely different game. So no wonder the Big 10 teams get waxed in bowls. They played the last 4 or 5 games in the snow or mud. I know if you brought in a warm weather team to Columbus Ohio for a bowl in January it would be the exact opposite - except for maybe USC, they do play pretty well in shitty weather - saying that cause it's true! But everyone else - not so much!

I got your point, my response was to usafdirtboyz.
I think more than the weather is the fact that some of these teams have home crowds in the bowl games. USC and Florida both had home crowds. I'd say a title game in Hawaii would be safe since we know in the current system Hawaii will not be able to play for the championship.

That is unless the Mountain West Conference tries to get Boise + Hawaii like the rumours I've heard. If they get both of those programs then I don't see how they don't get an auto bid as their conference would be pretty respectable with Utah, TCU, and BYU.

This is all moot if we get the playoff system which I think we will once the BCS contract is over. Cold weather conferences will always be at a disadvantage for the championship. Like the super bowl, it needs to be in a warm weather city or no one will travel to it. I am a huge Seattle fan but like many of us there was no way I was going to blow a few grand for tickets in Detroit for our SB.

I would love to see this happen.

But then the game would lose loads of money because I don't think they'd field a full stadium that often.

And talking about streakiness, in a good way.

Cannon threw 7 incompletions to start the game. 1/9 with an INT. And then only threw 2 incompletions the rest of the game.

I think thats pretty damn crazy. Not sure if I'm happy or upset.

But wow.
Great game Louisiana.

Like i said in the other thread. Congrats. A well played, hard fought game, in which you guys just came back in the 4th quarter. If we keep losing these close ones, I'm going to have to figure something new out. It's really starting to get frusterating. And it doesn't get any easier next week at Canton.

Yeah dude, great game.
Our defense came up huge in big situations.
The Bend But Don't Break working again.

It turned out whatever team had the most big plays came out on top.
What a game, that may have been the game of the year.

Sorry ya'll had to come out losing in such a great one. Good luck the rest of the way. Including playoffs.
And hopefully we WON'T see you in the playoffs... You'd probably beat us.
