qfduel

Or is that an intentional typo?

But yeah...just remove the OOP from OT to TE, and WR to TE, and completely do away with the TE position.

Why are they "supposed" so be balanced?

Because they have dual roles.

Just like everyone is going on about how LB's SHOULD get ran over because they are build to stop elusive backs...which I agree with. FB's and TE's are encouraged to build lopsided, even though the position itself has two distinct roles.

You can say that about every single position. Should the QB be a scrambler or a passer? Should the WR be speedy or a possession receiver? Should a lineman be a run stopper or a pass rusher?

Are you just arguing to argue?

I thought we were having a discussion. ARe you just being an ass to be an ass?

EDIT: Fixed for moran spelling.

I was responding to his post. Weather or not you thought it was on point or not doesn't make it arguing for the sake of arguing. You may be amazed to find out that different people interpret things in different ways. I actually thought we were having a good discussion.

As to what YOU are supposed to think. I don't give a rat's ass as I wasn't even responding to you.

so if no penalty from OT to TE and no penalty from TE to WR, therefore no penalty from OT to WR.

Woo hoo - putting my OT at WR3 for WR screen. Dude is gonna take out 3 CBs at once and bust that play wide open.

Oh wait.

that's not how it'd actually work (each position mismatch has its own OOP penalty) but a good point nonetheless

Makes me feel a little stupid for having a balanced TE tbh

Why? That's what TE is supposed to do nowadays. Heavily focus one way or the other so they can be called in for appropriate plays.

EDIT: Admittadly, paying 200 FP for what basically amounts to a lineman kinda sucks.

it would be best to just add a matchup for each game into the AI(that refreshes every game) and you can adjust your D playcalls depending on who is where so you'd have the regular AI then a list of players that it would look for

so like : billy = receiving TE johnny = blocking TE

AI looks for 1st and 5-10yrds to go also if billy then blahblahblah

then have another that looks ofr johnny

We do that on my teams to a degree now, but I'm currently building one TE to be a WR and one TE to be an OT and plan on keeping them as the TE1/TE2 when they're ready for prime time.

Before this thread I was all for the custom slots and I used to them great extent when I OC'd last season.

Now I realize how wrong I was and how terrible they have made the game. I repent.

Hence the reason I built my TE to be a receiving TE. If you want a master pancaker in there, just put a blocking TE or a OT in there. The NFL works like that too (i.e. one leaning towards blocking, one more of a catcher)

PS- and with a receiving TE, you only pay 200 FP to build a WR.

sigh

I have a balanced TE, and I'm not regretting it. I'm actually proud of it in a way. I have seen it perform as a blocker in run plays and a receiver in pass plays, in one game.

I'm not a bandwagon person so I don't really rant about my TE not being a receiving one. I wanted him to be the emergency go to man, and so far he's doing what I wanted him to do.

Glad I could do my part.

I'm pretty shocked that some people are arguing over whether it is realistic to have TEs built like pure WRs or OTs; it should be obvious that it isn't. The arguing should be over how to fix the problem.
