Alt: Jason Dawkins of the Kentucky Madcats- It’s nice to have a blocking TE to round out the skill players on the offense, and Dawkins is the one you want to have. 54 so far this season makes him the conference leader. (176)

Nothing against Oden, but he's not the premier pass catching TE. It's not even close - Pig of Rhode Island is.

http://goallineblitz.com/game/full_player_stats.pl?player_id=26452&playoffs=0

Pig has more receptions (68 to 62), almost THREE TIMES the yards (1326 to 575) and almost three times as many TDs (17 to 5). Pancakes you want? Pig has 35.

You need to redo your formula on this one.

And played by everyone else in that conference. To be distorted he'd have to be the only one to play that team.

He's right. Pig's the man as far as TE's go.

Not bad, but my guy got 2/3rds of the way to these stats in one game: http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=139665

Nice nominations Cap. Just curious though, how come you set up O-linemen as a unit instead of by G, T, and C?

Unfortunately, the current iteration of Justafish's formula for judging O-Line performance relies on a stat that doesn't exist yet: sacks allowed. I can, however, create a version of that stat by tracking the performance of whole O-Lines at once. Currently, if I wanted to compare individual players performance on the O-Line, all I'd have, stats-wise is Pancakes. Which as PP said, is not so great. So without straying from the numbers or spending ungodly amounts of time, it's nominating whole O-Lines or nothing at all.

Take a look at Skram and PB again

PB is still 5 pts behind Falcon But I'll reconsider it after the final game. Dizzle, on the other hand, got robbed. I stated at the outset that I was only looking at listed starters, so I never actually saw him. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

And there you have it, we're apparently a defensive team!
Our offense suffers a lot from "too many players to get stats-itus."

Yeah, that was a rough set for Philly. Krist, Goddard and the Natural were all players that I actively had to go back and forth with myself about not nominating. Offense selections don't reflect week 15 games, though, so I will check again.

I like this. I'm a fan of justa's formula, and it's interesting to see it played out (in human hands, I still think it needs some tweaks if it ever becomes an automated function).

If you can codify any of those tweaks, I'd love to hear them. We've already made two changes in the course of this thread that Justafish wound up adopting.

True. However, he's still having a great season, so I stand by that pick.

Nope. I don't need to redo the formula. It's mostly done by greasemonkey, so there shouldn't be any mistakes there. What I do need to do is pay attention when I'm creating my list. I skipped dizzle cause he wasn't starting for the Saints. I'm not sure how I managed to skip Pigleg, but you are correct. In general, if your Pro Bowl score is wildly higher than whoever I picked (easy to calculate by hand as well), it's not that I don't like you, it's that I missed you entirely.

Fair enough, but you need to replace Oden with Pig on the list.

Updated to do just that. Since everything is on the first page, that's all I'll be updating. Everything else will be out of date. Also, I was thinking that I might just stop with Wk 15. Inter-conference play presents some tricky statistical conundrums. Everyone agree/disagree?

That's probably fair. Only way to maintain the balanced schedule.

Mainly, my suggestion to Justa (which he turned down) was a modifier for team success (to both mimic RL where the most successful teams get more selections, and to avoid the outliers, usually on defense, who have inflated stats due to being on a weak team).

I was a little disappointed to see almost no Coyotes on the East offense, but I noticed something...

- 10 of the 14 nominations are on teams at the 7th seed or lower.
- 7 of those 10 are on teams outside the playoffs as of now.
- The OL nominations are of the top 2 teams.

I'll take playoff hopes and OL recognition over Pro Bowl nominations any day.

Plus the entire Nighthawk OL is owned by it's owner Sledge, backups and all. The Coyotes OL is made up of 5 different player owners (7 if you count the 2 backups as well).

We need more true nominations next season. I appreciate this because it took a while, but I think a little more time and maybe even voting would make it better.
