Wouldn't it be nice for the Pro Bowl Punter to get something like +1 Hangtime, +2 Punting and have it be upgradable?

Or you could just throw money or prestige the players way.

Why make the best better? This would only further encourage players to play down in lower leagues.

I would assume that half of his tackles are from runs/tackling other WRs, but since he hardly gets the ball thrown to him AND he is only on the field for like 40 plays per game he doesn't have the stats the other CBs do.

I'm in the exact same boat. 17 tackles/22 PDs/2 INTs for my CB ( http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=26198 ). He hardly ever gets thrown at, and he'd never make a Pro Bowl via this formula.

It's inevitable, though. Any type of automated/math-based formula will leave a certain group of players out.

I can see HB receiving, but is QB rushing is hard to factor in due to the fact that sacks are sometimes considered a rush by the QB.

I really like this idea it should be put in and the players who get in the pro-bowl should be rewarded just like the real NFL pro-bowl it makes perfect sense

Prime Time doesn't do bad: a 60 rating.

But yes, this rarely thrown to CBs will probably not make the Pro Bowl. They are GLB's Nnamdi Asomugha.

Hahah, very true. And I'm fine with that, tbh

I want to express that I think this is a great idea, though, and very well thought-out. And with gutted teams being flagged and dropped to bottom tiers, hopefully stats will be more realistic, etc.

One thing, though, CPU coaches are terrible. We see this from the D-leagues. So there'd have to be a specific Pro Bowl set up.

My CB would score a 62.75
http://goallineblitz.com/game/full_player_stats.pl?player_id=653066&playoffs=0

The last two games I've had him set for medium coverage distance and aggresive coverage style... so his tackles were a little higher than normal and he didn't have as many PDs.

+1 I am by no means saying this is a bad idea either. I think it is a great idea and it should be implemented.

You are right by saying once gutted teams go away it should make stats more realistic.

Hey justafish, just a few suggestions for your formulas:

All skill players, including QB, WR, and TE, should lose points for lost fumbles.

For O-line and FB, as someone suggested earlier, you could add a small modifier for the team's rushing performance, something that wouldn't skew the results much. In the NFL, many O-Linemen and fullbacks are chosen simply because their RB is having a good year. So maybe something like:

...+(Team Rushing Yards / 80)+...

Also, I completely disagree with docking a CB for tackles (i.e. the divided by 4). One thing you could add to the DB formula is "Catches Allowed", which would offset bad CB's giving up catches and tackling the WR. Catches Allowed isn't a stat right now, but many people have been pushing it, similar to "Sacks Allowed" for O-Line. The fact is, Champ Bailey and Antoine Winfied are two pro bowl CB's because of their ability to support in the run game and make tackles (among other abilities). I know that my lvl 31 CB has gotten more than half of his tackles in run support, so I think you could remove that "/4" and maybe balance with a "catches allowed" stat.

QB's should get rewarded for rushing yards. While GLB struggles with rushing QB's right now, it won't always be that way, so plan ahead. Also, QB's could probably have yards/attempt factored into the equation (though this is closely related to QB rating...)

EDIT: Oh, and sacks may need to be weighted heavier...would you rather have a DE with 80 tackles and no sacks, or one with 20 sacks and 40 tackles? Just a thought.

I agree with FumLost

I still say that you can't give credit to the oline and FB if the HB is a BrTack machine and the oline lets the dline com and try to tackle him.

I'm not so much docking CBs (That would be subtracting) for tackling but reducing the effect. It's the same as multiplying the second half of the formula by 4. Catches Allowed would eliminate many tackles and then I'd change the formula to Tackles -(CA+MissTack). From what I understand, catches allowed is a hard stat to keep, but if it ever gets implemented I'll change the formula to that.

Y/A is part of QB rating.

I noticed that yesterday. I think I might do Sacks *2.5

Well thought out. Obviously some of the formulas need a bit of tweaking, but you are all over it.

Love the timing of it, for 15/16 of the league the season is over - good time to put it in. Who really watches a scrimmage game after a playoff loss or nonplayoff season anyway? Your ProBowl idea should replace the 4th scrimmage game.

56 players a conference should make it interesting to all teams, don't think a mandatory one per team is necessary. It would be messy to implement.
