You know how many games have missed calls that affected the outcomes in the playoffs. If you played that card the Pats would have won the 1st superbowl against the Giants and Indy never would have got to a Superbowl and Peyton still wouldn't have won one.

The refs let them play which is how a superbowl should be. The intential ground call was a 40 yard pass down the field so if the refs wanted to they could have made the judgement call that it wasn't purposely thrown away hence second down. Brady had plenty of time to throw the ball and wasn't under immediate pressure. I personally was fine with the call even being a Patriots fan but that call is judgement and when I think of intentional grounding it s a panacked QB throwing a ball out of bounds near the Line of Scrimmage to avoid a sack.

And if you think that wasn't intentional grounding, you're wrong

And the Patriots wouldnt even have made it to that first Super Bowl against the Rams if the refs didnt screw the Raiders in the playoffs on a clear fumble.

Rulebook stated at time that was right call. Take that up with the NFL rule makers at the time.

I'm only stating what Steve Young said when he stated the rule on intentional grounding is that it's a judgement call.

Pats got some luck getting to the superbowl anyway with Baltimore dropping the ball literally. Someone had to win and as usual a handfulf plays were the difference. I just don't wanna hear nonsense of the refs favored Pats in this game.

It's funny Raiders fans will always talk about that but always forget the phantom roughing call that got them in FG range to win in the AFC championship against the Pats. At least the Raiders had a chance to stop the Pats and still win the game. Pats didn't have that luxury since that 70's call was the last play of the game.

Some missed calls both ways in the game tbh. Which is fine, they let guys play. Now if you want to talk about bad officiating ask me about the Giants vs Packers playoff game. That one was brutal and should have cost that crew any chance to ever officiate a playoff game again.

This thread is still a classic, especially since it took 2 pages before people realized what was going on.

How did the refs screw the Raiders by applying a rule the right way? It wasnt the first time it happened and its happened since. So the NFL rules dont agree with you on what a "clear fumble" is.

Its funny that they keep crying about a 'bad call' that was applied exactly how the rulebook reads. They dont cry that Woodson made a personal foul on the play that might have caused Brady to 'fumble' in the first place. They dont cry about the Raiders taking a knee and not having the balls to go for the win. You play to win the game http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zLlIdZikDk

But the Bills' loses were consecutive...

Thanks for re-opening that wound...

They're complaining because its a terrible rule. also, when Brady stops moving the ball forward, he doesn't attempt to tuck it. he holds it with both hands. And what are you talking about with Woodson and a personal foul? he had one hand on Tom's shoulder and the other hit the ball
