You have a very good team there, and are bound to win many championships. I appreciate everything you did for, but you did make it very hard to make this decision

For Immediate Release - September 5, 2008

Melbourne, AUS - The owner of the Melbourne Thorny Devils of Oceania AAA#1, Zeta Conference, had more than just the playoffs on his mind today. With a crucial second round match coming up at 7 p.m. EST, Matt Scace was on the phones and typing e-mails all morning trying to secure three players he considers franchise cornerstones. At 3 p.m. EST today, Justin Colline, CB, Andre Caldwell, WR, and Ryan Diem, LT signed offer sheets with the Melbourne Thorny Devils.

"The first thing I said when I heard the news was welcome to the MTD family," said Scace at an afternoon press conference. "Next season, Collie is going to lock down the opposition passing game, Caldwell is going to burn defensive backs and Diem is going to add needed depth to a great offensive line. To the rest of the teams in Oceania - look out, Melbourne is coming to town!"

All three players are coming off successful seasons with the Tijuana Donkies of South America AAA#2's Zeta Conference. Collie has been a shutdown corner, picking off 11 passes and taking three balls to the house. Caldwell had over 900 yards receiving on the season and six touchdowns. He also picked up a touchdown in the team's first round playoff game yesterday. Diem has been a workhorse all season long, logging 70 plays per game on a good offensive line.

The Thorny Devils will be negotiating with each player into the offseason to ensure all three are signed before next season.

The Melbourne Thorny Devils played their first game in Oceania AA#2 Zeta Conference almost three months ago, coming away with a win in an 88-0 romp of the Cimmerian Barbarians. Last season, their first in GLB, the team went 20-0 en route to the Oceania AAA#2 Championship with a 31-13 win over the Brisbane Blaze. In their second season, the Thorny Devils went 14-2 during the regular season and are 1-0 in the playoffs.

Jcdawg as soon as you make the announcement. I would like the first question from the media

Why is that?

Have you guys ever been to a actual press conference

Considering I'm in the field....yes. I don't think anyone felt you were a member of the media

But if you are, I guess it is up to JC if you can have the first question from the "media"

It was a joke... I have been to plenty of them though mainly college stuff but some pro
