That's probably because this isn't the forum to ask questions, tbh.

I heard GLB is switching to a 5pin connector charger, so customers will have to spend more money in order to recharge their GLB

yeah.. not so much

I wrote build guides for every archetype in the game that were well formatted and easy to follow. This is after writing a 101 guide and a 102 guide about Soft Caps and ALGs and How to make a build plan. That doesn't even count the guide I wrote for the VPB (this one is actually posted in public http://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=5119032&page=1#47785218 )

EllisBell thought they were the greatest thing since sliced bread, and rewarded me with 1K Flex. Once GLB2 was done, GLB1 was supposed to get a major shot in the arm and the forums were going to be cleaned up and re-worked.

And none of it happened.

The other side of that coin is your average web-based football fan/MMORPG fan (if there even is such a thing) doesn't really want to do a ton of homework just to watch some dots wiggle. This game is like anti-crack. Its not really that fun, and the addiction takes months to set in... if at all.

on top of all of that....

You have the networking and coordinating issues where there's a tiny group of 'haves' and everyone else is a 'have not' .. Even if you manage to over come the learning curve with a group of agents you still run smack dab into the brick wall of needing 55 extremely well built dots, and a couple people with the arcane knowledge of how to work the DPC and which offense plays work, and which ones are useless. These issues are no problem for the networks who pass around playbooks and coordinators, and can pull a full team of pros almost out of thin air.

There are just too many strikes against this game to make it sustainable.
That is why GLB2 was invented

This game could be saved, but it would take major work, and no one on the admin side wants to do it. They made their cash on this game already. The only way this game is financially viable is to put zero effort into it. The development is done, the servers are paid for, so now it's basically just the electric bill. Once the light bill exceeds the income, they will shut this down. Until then, they're perfectly happy collecting whatever money comes in with no effort.

Just an FYI, you can't recharge GLB1... you can only swap out the exhausted hamster for a fresh one.

The marketing is really all it would take, in my opinion.

I think it was by season 13, was the banner SEE WHAT THE PRESS IS SAYING ABOUT GLB! came from. So that is years of riding out the "success".

After all, it is a game and like most game franchises you hit a dud period. Madden had them, and plenty of it. Some things I'd love to see changed for practical purposes:

CPU Builds are open.
CPU Dots are kept generic (No SA, VA, or stat bonuses) but having a roster of them doesn't give you a penalty.
This ^^^ Should promote more ownership and keep revenue going... How on the revenue?
For every CPU Dot you have to spend 50 flex per contracted CPU Dot with the open build, to keep that dot you have to renew the 50 flex contract. This 50 flex could come from the owner or team donated flex.

Keeping the Free Agency system alive would help a lot. Hard to do that without builders and folks who know what to do. Perhaps a "pilot system" of suggested build goals. Yeah, I know every team should have this in their forums but often enough I see more dot owners just throwing crap out there than anything.

Going on a stretch here but, given the declining climate it might be a time to remove the decline period on dots. As well as the "if you haven't reached 79 by X days" you're boned. I know they put that in as a way to enforce spending habits but I remember having a lot more folks with slow builds that never boosted. They got left behind and eventually left out.

Way around this? The Free dot league with no boosts. If a dot has boosted in the past, they can't play in that league anymore. Would be an easy enough area to let the new comers try things out and stay on an even pace with others until they are ready for the boosting big boys.

Hostile Takeover?

Mergers and Acquisitions?

A group of old school people that care buying out the game from the admin and then implementing the most requested changes?

Sustainability takes upfront capital and a lot of work. How much is this game even worth being 6 years out?

This. I reckon this is the only way to save GLB - syndicate it. I've no idea if there are the necessary programmers here but when you think of how many games got exciting once the userbase starting modding the core game...

If such a thing would happen from a group of investors and developers, GLB could turn from a great game into a fucking amazing MMO experience.

If it doesn't, then I'm with the other doom-mongers looking into the empty grave that awaits a coffin. Much as I love it, I'm ready to jack it in. It's a helluva lot of time and money to be a 'have-not' in a stale and withering game.

Having said that, I'm going to try and reset to Rookie. Let's see if I can even get a roster together.
