Regardless it doesn't matter. This game is donezo.

I get where TT and some others are coming from and I can appreciate it. They are convinced that pumping up GLB2 is the way to save this game. I wish that were true. Anyone that knows me will tell you my hopes were really high when GLB left beta that WG would advertise and this game would grow again. They would also tell you that I was excited about a second game release for the same reason. When I saw their plans and those plans come to fruition I was devastated (relatively speaking).

Of course this is why I've come across as negative for the last couple of years. I love this game and I felt it deserved better.

Well, TT's post is not true. People haven't been saying anything much about how they hate 2.0 here for the last 2 months. That's because a certain admin has ran around slapping people with 30 day to perma bans and deleting their posts if they say anything negative about 2.0. For the past couple of months it's been either heap praise on 2.0 on this forum or get banned for a lengthy period. So let's not pretend 2.0 has been carrying the real GLB.

I have not said one good thing about the Duece and I have not been banned.

That's obviously because DD ignores you.

I think it is the other way around really. People are convinced that if they dog GLB2 enough that Bort will scrap it and come back here. That clearly is not the case however. Of course guys like TT and I would like more people to join up in GLB2 with teams because it actually is pretty fun. It was a fun first season all around.

No, I wanted 2.0 to succeed so new people would flock there and then try out this game. When I saw that wasn't going to be the case and it was just going to split the userbase is when I started hating 2.0.

You seem to be in the minority on that. A lot of people gave it a chance and decided it was shit, myself among them.

I've said exactly one good thing about the Deuce and lots of bad things, and I have not been banned either.

For all their faults, the mods have always been pretty good about allowing constructive criticism of the product. Key word: constructive.

That describes me as well. I was looking forward to GLB2 once upon a time, and I thought everyone who was declaring it to be the ultimate downfall of GLB1 were being premature.

Turns out they were actually being prescient.

The mods weren't the ones banning people.

Well, the Admins haven't banned me yet, and I've given them a few excuses to in the past month.

Might give them another one soon, actually... ball's in their court on that one right now, though.

I was in 3 of the best leagues and 2 of the more vocal ones so it probably was a lot more fun to me than some. The ladder schedule was fun as hell too. There was a lot of shake up between the top 50 teams.

I could post what really went down but it would just result in another ban. Let's just say you must have not been on the night a certain admin went apeshit and started banning people left and right.

There were 3 types of people that were around when 2.0 was announced and this is the reactions each of those types had in general.

1. This is a terrible idea, at best it will split the current user base at worst it will cut both types of users out of either game because it will cause failure on both games.
2. This is an alright idea, perhaps we will see new users if they do this well.
3. This is a great idea, this game is played out.

The groups were all pretty equally distributed, which means around 60% or more of the user base desired GLB to something new coming to overtake it. It looks as though the 1s were the most correct, but we still don't know if it destroys both games or simply splits the user base. I will say that it is likely not going to split it unfortunately as it is clear 1.0 will need resuscitation that it seems clear the coders are not qualified to give. What I do know is if GLB classic ends the run, I will not be logging into the less interesting (imo) 2.0 any longer. It just doesn't interest me enough. As it is right now, I log in as I log in here.
