How hard would it be for those "experts" "testers" or admins to make a youtube video and publish it on the ins and outs of the interfaces and building process prior to the release.

I guess ill wait to see what it looks like myself, but it would really go a long way to move out of the forums threads on how it all works and make a useful and detailed video on the product you expect people to pay money for.

Seeing that testers are volunteers and really have no knowledge of the code, you're asking quite a bit. Admins could maybe make a video but I promise the process isn't hard to figure out. The only documentation we had during testing was the tooltips that will be available to new users.

Also doing a Youtube video or multiple videos on the components of the game and how it all works would go a long way to attracting GLB1 people over as well as new players to the game. I dont see how it would be possible to come into this game brand new and figure anything out. The wiki sucks, the forums are full of trolls and smartass comments that will just turn new customers away.

IMO i would like to see GLB2 released for a couple months for free to work out the kinks. Allow people to make 5-10 players at no cost and then at the end of the 2 months or 1 season, whatever. Reset the game and then start charging flex.

Allow the community base to build the wiki or videos etc if you don't have the manpower to do it yourself. But i wont spend a dime on GLB2 until I can see how it all works in some public information site other than a 900 page thread.

/end rant

Would seem like a great testing environment for sure but you/we have to understand these guys want and need money no matter how the spin is being reported. There are no players here anymore or at least not like it used to be. I'm taking the approach of , not really playing GLB1 and waiting to use what I have left to play GLB2. If I like it i'll stay spend some cash and continue on , if not i'm gone.

I'll still probably play the D League Challenge but that's about all the fun factor left. Have to say though the build process looks nice in 2.0 so far now to just see it in action. This side was just far too time consuming for me after a few years.

we do have a tutorial in place to help users who may need it.

playing the game is the best way to learn it and we're excited for users to get the chance to do that soon!

Your user ID indicates you went through the same with GLB1. There were "guides" early on but they were hardly useful based on the evolution of the game.

Another important key about GLB2. You can create and retire at will. The most important piece of the build is the initial attributes, height, and weight. As long as you get those right (and you can keep trying until you find what you want) your build will be fine unless you do something really screwy.

rolling for builds is back?

From what i've heard is you just retire after you see what happens when you add the points. It was in a thread here a day or two ago.

Did one of them say the 95% thing in another thread? Cause I only saw you say it, before he said GLB1 had that rate. If they did, then that would make more sense to me.

GLB had a paid employee in catch22 to test and do conceptual development, and he did his job well, rolling out archetypes, new plays, and a host of sim fixes and adjustments that made GLB what it is today. They tried testers, but paying one person to do it was more efficient and a much better idea in my opinion, so I don't think it is relevant to say that GLB1 had no testers. They had an employee paid to do nothing else and he had a handful of people he worked with like Mike Rogers and a few others.

GLB2 had a good many testers for alpha. Saying they "quit" is misleading. They tested what bort and Cornblade wanted them to test up until about 2.5 weeks ago. At that point those two kind of went into their hole coding everything left to code for the game. In other words, bort and Co. got what they needed to see about player building and sim balance, and a good many testers gave input on this. They then overhauled the player building system to make it better and more balanced based on tester input and their own ideas as well. The entire time we tested basic website stuff and reported on bugs where we found them. About 2.5 weeks ago they began coding finishing stuff for the website, satisfied with where the sim and player building models were at that point. That is when the testers "quit" supposedly, but actually it was just a case of bort used them, got the info he needed, then started coding. There wasn't much need for testers or much for them to do after that.

Now on to beta.

Yes, please let us figure it out for ourselves.

from the way I understood what I was reading , it will just make us understand that putting too many points here instead of there if that makes sense? certain places you add points make others harder to get to later on and the like or vice versa. Going to try and find it and i'll pm you.

glb2 is going to be the same thing as 1 with regards to when you build? building during the season will be bad and you have to wait til offseason/preseason?

You can create at any time.

Yeah you can do that here too. Doesn't really answer the question.

It was answered by bhall I think somewhere, but all you'd be missing out on by building late in the season is stats

No. But you can play around with attributes/height/weight/traits until you get the caps you want. Eventually I expect there will be certain setups that some consider ideal but that's a long way off.
