seriously, given GLB's past performance does anyone really think they'll have anything remotely marketable by this time next year?

Let's think about this. It took roughly 25 "seasons" to get this game somewhat stable.
they're organized a little better now so they should be able to cut that in half for the new game.
but they're going to lose revenue big time in the transition trying to start a "new" game making it take longer
so I'm thinking

25 /2 X .5 = 21 (roughly). Yep Gup your guesstimate sounds 'bout right. late 2015 early 2016.

I'm already getting feelers from your agents
and I don't have any room.
maybe we should just wait and see what happens.

I'm really hoping I log on tomorrow after work, check the New Game thread, and find out I've grossly over-reacted to this.

Unfortunately, we're talking about Bort, so right now I can't get past "hope."

I am usually not someone to bitch about changes, nerfes, whatever but this has to be a april fools thing....

game (this one) is years (literally) in Beta, and asks money for it.
OK
game (this one) gets out of Beta (with no real feel-able changes aside a GIF).
OK
not even a year after game (this one) gets out of Beta, it gets abandoned (aka no updates) and another game (the new one, in the same genre, the same game with graphics as it looks, gets "released"?
NOT OK.

tbh, I am here for 20ish seasons only, and nobody will miss me, but if Bort doesnt have an extremely fine plan up his sleeve to appease the whole lot of GLB-mediumtohardcore-ers, I am outta here.....

I've posted this numerous times and got chided for it but unless they've figured out how to make the game where you can actually have different dots that can be successful, it's going to fail.

If you read the build advice forums, you pretty much build every position the same way, every time. Unless something was changed to the SIM, you followed the same build plan, every time. Did you run it through the VPB? No, then it's crap. RETIRE! That doesn't interest anyone but the math geeks out there. There is no individuality to the players. You quickly bore of the game and before long, you quit playing. A friend of mine who is a huge football fan quit the game nearly a year ago now and has probably 20-25k flex sitting in his account because he couldn't build players and enjoy it. He works in the mortgage industry and basically said "if I want to sit and do math, I'll just work more and get paid to do it."

I'm only here because several of my friends still play like Novus. I'm certainly not here for the game anymore.

Sounds like you don't have a handle on your agents, hoss. I smell weakness in your ranks.

Exactly.

Its nice to see the pussies so openly admit that they can't afford to play the game now while also looking forward to what may or may not come in the future.

You get chided for saying this because it's idiotic since it's not even remotely close to being true.

Hmmm, I'll probably play both games. And still play Diablo 3, GTA and others... Why all the hate for more options?

That might actually be worse.

If this turns out to be more Quick Hit Clone instead of GLB 2.0, they'll still risk dividing up their userbase between two games, which will leave GLB 1.0 weaker than it already is.

This is 100% what I see rolling in and my biggest fear..

GLB is already on shaky grounds....

hey I like that they admit the only real fix is a reset.. many people have been saying that for years.... What I don't like is going to be the dance we end up playing between the 2 games while 1 dies a slow death.. and 2 well lets be honest.... it's still GLB.. the fancy looking new design won't keep the kids invested for long.... GLB has a following..... thats where the money is.... and they are about to split it...

I have zero desire to cord on 2 games... my pro lev oai alone took me forever to make... no desire to do all that again....
let alone trying to keep playing cord on 2 servers ... ... I'm sure GLB 1 will survive a bit longer..... if people are into winnng watered down cups and stuff....... it make make it a bit longer then I think..... but IMO you just spread overworked cords out much thinner

The new game will be great until people learn it. Just like other games, there's only so much enjoyment you can get out of it when you aren't "figuring" something out. There are still things that you can learn in this game, still things that haven't been tried, but they are fewer and further between.

If there is a new game, and the new game is like GLB, I hope that the abilities have super vague descriptions, and that Bort and the Admin staff just flat out refuse to answer any questions about how the game works.
