I rarely, if ever, saw FFAers in there, tbh.
Trolling in chat was worse than any thread in FFA.

There were actually 15-20 people who Id consider regulars before everyone left. Im not sayin its a huge number, but big enough to delineate 10% of.
Bhall was actually in there more back in the day, but still came around here and there
It wasnt overmoderation in the sense that people were getting banned. It was overmoderation in the sense that people would get muted and conversations get controlled by arbitrary rules that everyone moved to an offsite chat where there was actual free speech. Sometimes it is offensive, but sometimes free speech is offensive. I think the same would apply to GLB main although im too loaded to be sure or care. If they would simply allow free speech, then people who got offended could avoid it, or say wtf they want. Adults don't need mods telling them what they can and cant post or talk about, especially when they are paying customers. /rant

Hmm...Can't say I was ever in there when a mod refused freedom of speech. I mean we had some pretty out of bounds conversations in there that weren't refused by any moderating.

I never saw any overmoderation in chat, and I was there quite often before it turned into a desert...
EDIT: However, if the new communication model is more of an IM than a real chat, it won't replace chat and people will stay where they are now, at ANOTHER third party chat tool.

As long as all three of them are content with that option.

Every time I went into the chat, since it started, there were about as many as 7 users, including a mod, with 2-3 users if any talking. I my experience chat was never a jumping place, in fact team chats are even worse and probably made the main chat room more deserted.

Come on DB, stop being dismissive of something you don't even know. Have you been to the chat people are using at all?
