For GLB, that means the mechanics of player improvement via training should have as much in common as possible with the mechanics of player improvement via game experience; they shouldn't be two completely different processes.

Just to be sure that I'm not misunderstood, let me make it clear that it's the player-building system I'm criticizing, not the football simulation.

my suggestion, pick one position and focus on that dot with one particular archetype (and frequent the build advice forums). once you feel comfortable with building that particular dot then begin branching out into other positions. trying to overextend yourself in the beginning and dabbling in too many builds will certainly confuse you...

then of course its important to decide if you want to build a dot for immediate success (ie peewee), or long term (focusing on a pro caliber dot). these two routes will also impact your build process, but are easily addressed imo. either way, the build forums and a number of agents in the game would great resources for build advice.

I remember trying to figure which training combinations to use, like wind sprints, up downs, etc. In the beginning I'd only train my dot on the days he didn't play a game cos I thought he would get more tired. (Like in real life)
And then when I got on my first human team (pee wee) my HB got cut from the team with no explanation. I was mad, bro.

my first QB got signed to a 10 season contract by an owner who signed 12 QBs to 10 year contracts so he could trade them I guess

I understood and thanks for your feedback.

For almost five years, this game has received hundreds of updates and tweaks. Most of these changes and additions were to our massive user-base, at the time. They wanted more, we provided more. In hindsight, this should of been thought through a bit more. The increase in features increasingly made the game harder for a newcomer to quickly enjoy and understand.

As I mentioned in my previous post, we are aware of the problems that we have created within this game and we do wish to rectify that with our future ventures. This was our first game and we will continue to feed it with small updates, as long as we have agents, but some features are so hardcoded into the game they cannot be changed without rewriting the entire thing. Unfortunately that is not something that will happen.

Forward Ho, Onwards and Upwards, Et Cetera...

So would there be a chance that after a few new games are released, that maybe Bort would consider doing a different version of GLB? Taking what he has learned from this version and putting it in the newer version?

Yes, that is likely.

He learned what to do and what not to do from this game and a fresh start has been talked about. I cannot mention what our future games are but I can say "revamping" GLB is something we would love to do in the future. If it is something we end up doing, the development phase would be quick and easy because the simulation is already in place.

I would agree that the game mechanics are complicated and that is coming from an admin. As most users know, even GLB administrators and game developers are horrible at creating players and setting up tactics. The users are the ones who have truly mastered the game.

FWIW, this is true for nearly every game.

Especially when you include support staff and such.
