Barry Sanders should be the only RB on the list, he almost broke the rushing record along with having one of the worst O Lines ever. When you have cameras dedicated to just your feet throughout the game, you know you're bad ass

The offensive line made him look a lot better than he really was, just like Priest Holmes.

Best Running Backs in NFL history
1. Jim Brown
2. Adrian Peterson
3. Barry Sanders
4. Walter Payton
5. Eric Dickerson
6. LaDainian Tomlinson
7. Marshall Faulk
8. Tony Dorsett
9. Thurman Thomas
10. Emmitt Smith

I didn't realize how rare truly great backs were until I made that list. I didn't really want to include anyone else after Faulk.

if we want to talk about someone with a shitty oline, it is Marshall Faulk during his Indy days. Dude seriously doesn't get the credit he deserves. Tomlinson couldn't sniff his jock.

lolno. LT was a beast, and for that matter he played behind a crap line as well. During his best season he played behind a second round rookie, two third rounders, a seventh rounder, and an undrafted guy. Faulk's best Indy season came behind two first rounders, a second rounder, a fourth rounder, and a ninth (lololddraft) rounder. I couldn't rank Marshall any higher than I did, and frankly he probably shouldn't be that high. So much of his success came in the first three seasons with the Rams when they were spreading defenses out.

Brian was actually a shitty HB, he would have never made a modern day NFL team

I was never really high on Tomlinson. So that could just be my bias. I would take Faulk over him any day.

Because he was behind essentially an entire pro bowl O-line his whole career. I could have run through some of the holes he had. And then consider Troy Aikmen and Michael Irvin. That's a lot to worry about other than Emmit for defenses which made his job even easier. When you see highlights of great rushing plays via NFL films, you don't see a lot of Emmit for a reason. He wasn't that special, IMO

Guys like Sanders, Brown, Payton, were far more talented backs that had their success behind suspect O-lines and with the other team knowing that they were getting the ball and they still could not stop them.

Find me an Emmit Smith Highlight that compares to this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WHgTyXEG14

No. Payton's durability and tenacity were incredible, but you shouldn't receive extra credit just for getting a ton of carries.

1. Joe Montana (the original Brady)
2. Brett Favre (35 more wins than anyone else, never played with great receivers except Sharpe)
3. Tom Brady (Intelligence and accuracy)
4. Steve Young (the original RG3)
5. Peyton Manning (best regular season QB ever, but loses major points for playoff failures)
6. Dan Marino (why were his defenses always terrible?)
7. Johnny Unitas (have to compare him to others from his era to see how good he was)
8. John Elway (his rookie completion percentage was worse than Tebow's, 56.9% career mark)
9. Aaron Rodgers (career QB rating 7.1 points higher than anyone in history, will fly up this list with more seasons)
10. Fran Tarkenton (all-time overachiever, made some terrible teams relevant)
