The karma feature is a joke.

It's abused by users with tons of multis. In turn, the abuse enables people that create horrible threads to contact a mod and claim they were the victim of karma abuse. The mod will then unlock the thread despite the fact it had numerous legitimate smites.

I frequent a couple of other sites that use a karma-like feature and it's a failure at those sites as well. One site you can post a bunch of half naked chicks and get your rep through the roof despite the fact your posting is horrendous.

Not to mention jdbolick's figure is pretty untrue. There have long been users in the TT/FFA areas who talk about just going to college or high school activites.

Read this again please: "The amount of people under 15 legitimately playing this game is probably close to nil, as the rest are just multis people pretend are their children." Do you have users in TT/FFA posting about middle school activities?

I can agree with the updating of the forum rules/new banning lenghts and desciptions, that's absurd it's taken this long, but the Sim has taken precedence.

As for the rest, I can agree with both sides of the fence, so there really is no right and wrong. He goes too far with some assumptions, and not far enough with others.

Karma never works. Never. The only way it could work is if it were only positive karma and no negative. You either +1 it or you don't.

Then, I'm sorry, Dadd, but you're still part of the problem.

You should be enforcing the rules as written. Whether or not you personally care for something or not shouldn't enter the equation.

Few things you guys seem to fail to understand is that moderating a forum is about like enforcing the law...... no one REALLY wants you to enforce the law to the letter.

Do you really want cops to start pulling you over for going 56 MPH in a 55 zone?

Simply put, anytime you have humans running anything there will be some variation.

In the end though, most of the rules are absolute common sense.... some have it and some don't.

it does seem like it takes a while to get an appeal done, but im changed so i wont be using that system any more

Ever think that they may take awhile to respond to an appeal on purpose? That way you are banned for awhile, but then they can overturn and make you think that you won something, when in fact they banned you for a certain period of time while you awaited their decision.

I think it is funny that people think simply because their appeal was overturned that it means they were in the right and did nothing wrong.

I think it's funny that folks get banned in the first place. I mean really, folks who consider themselves adults should have enough common sense to know what type of postings are going to bring down the ban hammer.

I find it also ironic that the folks in this thread that are complaining the most/loudest about the way the forums are moderated, are folks who have been banned; multiple times in most cases.

If it wasn't for "us guys" these forums would be 100% dead and this game would have shut down a long time ago, tbh.

Look when I have been banned for as much crap as I have, and by crap I mean, being reported because I quoted someone who said a cuss word, and then got banned, and then had to sit there and wait for someone to answer my appeal. Honestly I don't care what they are doing when I get banned for something so stupid and unneeded. But because someone reported me, the mindless mod felt obligated to ban me instead of looking at who did the reporting and the context of the post in question. No excuse.

Yeah, the report button is bullshit.

I know people that fly below the radar by just flaming the hell out of people in league forums because they know the people they are messing with won't hit the report button. On the flip side, there are users that are constantly under scrutiny because they happened to make enemies with someone that can't keep their finger off the report button.
