in concept this is a good idea but if the reward is tied to flex or reward points then this isn't going to happen. seriously Bort isn't going to give more points for playing the game that takes cash out of his pocket because the more he gives the less you will spend. and before anyone pops off the usual stuff about no one is spending money now and all. we have already heard that so no need to beat that dead horse.

this is simple if we want a reward for longterm ownership then it needs to be in a token form such as a plague, banner, trophy, even a ring of some sort on the team page and also on the team owners page. there needs to be a performance stipulation on getting the longterm reward. If a team, is just there to be a farm team and never competes or is sitting there full of CPU's then they shouldn't be considered. my recommendation would be a .650 or above winning percentage over the life of the team. or atleast since the owner had purchased it.

any stuff tied to adding performance on the team shouldn't happen. that would make it that someone would be able to game the system and get a added advantage. as a group we need to look at trying to keep the game as close to even for everyone across the board as possible. the suggestions that people make that they think would help their teams bridge the gap between their teams and the teams beating their ass. well that is flawed thinking if something is implemented it goes to everyone on the game. so what improves one team improves all of them essentially so instead of bridging the gap it is just making the gap bigger.

That all makes sense Hatch, seriously, but - you knew there was going to be a but - while you can't make it a flex thing for most of it, and you can't greatly impact performance I think there could be wiggle room.

For instance with my set of concepts, giving a team thats been around a while the right to add some luxury box seating construction options, for small numbers and therefore small amounts of cash, would firstly not be a big deal, and secondly be no different than the current system. After all to fully build your stadium now means you have to own that team for a long period of time after all. This would not be significantly different, just a minor perk to the long time team owner.

And whereas flex should not be a significant on going reward, a small reward flex bonus as part of a 500 win trophy award would not break Borts bank and would be limited enough to avoid NGTH and yet a nice perk to the owner to sweeten the pot in addition to his trophy.

The point being that minor, very minor, additions would be mostly ceremonial but just enough meat to make the ownership award stew more than window trapping and therefore be valued more.

Now as to the winning percentage, I dunno. If the idea is to reward someone for providing shelter to the GLB world's dots, then that in and of itself ought to be good enough for the perks/trophies (barring 500 win, and having enough money to build the luxury boxes aspects). For instance for much of one of my teams careers its been mostly a home for aged and feeble dots, a Rescue Dot team if you will. Thats a good deed done and which Bort no doubt appreciates nearly every bit as much as a Lincoln Navigators.

So instead of putting a blanket Winner requirement on the concept, I would say instead that there could be multiple awards, as in my concept, some of which are for all teams owned long enough to qualify, and others which are a reward not for longevity but consistent long term success.

"Hatchman cracks knuckles and breathes a huge sigh after reading this and gets ready for his upcoming ban"

First pretty much everyone knows that Bort isn't going to give us any type of monetary reward for owning teams. it is our decision to be a team owner. we aren't doing Bort a favor by owning teams. we own teams because we want to. so the theory that we as owners need rewarding for helping GLB house all the players is a load of bull. no one makes you own teams that is your decision so why should you get a reward for doing what you wanted to do.

secondly adding stuff like the luxury sweets and the other stuff you mentioned only hurts the game. everyone makes these suggestions wanting more and more thinking it is going to level the playing field. yet each time something like this is implemented it only makes the good teams better and the bad teams worse. essentially longstanding teams stay together a longtime because the win. and those same teams really do not need any extra help in that department. so by giving them extra seats and so on. that basically buys them 1 or 2 more premium promotions each season. so instead of your ideas helping you make things worse simply because you have widened the gap between the good teams and the bad teams.

No one in the game thinks there should be a reward for crappy teams except for crappy team owners. this isn't the special Olympics where you get a ribbon just for competing. a added reward should only go to teams that work and try to make the team the best it can be. as team owners we aren't doing Bort a favor by just owning a team. that is part of the problem to many team owners that don't know how to win or just do not care. so why reward them for not doing anything.

I'm in agreement. Any reward should be purely cosmetic.

Wouldn't this all then fall under the achievement system they are already planning to roll out before S28? (the last page or so not the OP)

-1 to giving any real boost to a team in the sim or finances or any other way.

If people want a trophy or acknowledgment of owning a team for 10 seasons or whatever, why not wait to see what they roll out in the achievement idea and add anything to it they might miss.

Bort gives out monetary rewards all the time, from flex discounts to reward points for all sorts of occassions, including winning tourneys and contests. Reward for 500 wins on a team would be right in line with that sort of thing.

And its Bort's decision to cater to his long term customers if he so chooses. Corporations do it ALL the time. VIP lounges, Miles, High Roller perks at casinos even medium low rollers get a Comp every now and then.

And yes by being his long term customers in this highly competitive highly ADD game market we are definitely doing him the best kind of favor - showing brand loyalty.

Only if we make it require a winning percentage as you suggest.

My teams have been around for 20 seasons for the OTM, 18 to 9 for the others cept my this season newest Pee Wee club. Are you suggesting we are good teams??? How kind of you.

For the resons above, I disagree.

See Casino Comps. You do not have to win to get them. Just fill the seat long enough.

It may very well. In which case I would consider this a suggestion for how to implement one of the achievements.

I think there should be a monetary bonus at the start of each season...but that's me.

Fair enough but understand that when you put a thought out there I am going to comment on it for the benefit of the readers of the thread all the same.

They might get the mistaken impression you were correct otherwise.
