All I'm really pissed about is why the hell did the BCS put BSU vs. Utah. They aren't even ranked closely. But yet they are in a non BCS conference so they get put together. Just let the little guys have a chance against the big dogs don't force them to play each other every fucking year!

the BCS DOES want to keep TCU and BSU out of the major bowl games for the simple fact that you mentioned. They don't have a huge following and they won't make the BCS all the money that they and the Bowl game sponsors want. Cinderella stories are great unless they cost you money. That's the whole point.

Maybe Boise can host a carwash or sell candy bars and offer the proceeds to each of the bowl selection committees.... or they can get into a real conference with tie-ins to decent bowl games.

Bowl games aren't a charity event. They are designed to make money for the schools and the sponsors of the event. Welcome to capitalism.

Except that the BCS created clauses that guaranteed those teams a spot if they met certain conditions. Why do you think TCU is playing in the Rose Bowl? Would that ever happen under any circumstances if not for the BCS? No. Please use your brain for any future posts.

You're both proving my point. It's all about the money and only some about the play on the field. All I'm saying is that it's BS that small schools don't get the chance to play big schools.

A conference road game in college football is the toughest game to win. That Nevada team who beat Boise averaged less than 18K fans for their home games last season. Compare that to playing a road game against LSU, Ohio State, or any other program that routinely packs 80-100K fans into the stadium.

In 2009, Vanderbilt averaged more fans in attendance for home games than Boise State.

Go to this link - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_American_football_stadiums_by_capacity

Hit page down 12 times and you'll see Boise's stadium listed. Looks like a pretty serious football conference...

Hey! They have more capacity than Akron's Rubber Bowl, used for High School football games, and Cessna stadium, home to Wichita State Track and Field and Soccer teams...barely.

But seriously, have you ever been to Idaho. Pretty sure that capacity is like half the state.

lol eat me! I'm from Idaho. Yes there is a lot of country side there. One of the few states where farming is still a major influence. Land is used for land and not covered completely by asphalt.

I don't have time to read all this SoCal related stuff. From what I can gather from skimming, this thread is about organizing a bowl game to raise money to save the farmers in Idaho? Will Bono be performing at halftime? PM with ticket info plz.

If you honestly believe that, then there is absolutely no hope for you.

no hope indeed... I just get so sick of the BCS/Bowl Committee not letting the little guys have a chance to prove themselves...

by the way, i don't think the actual problem with the BCS is the economic aspect...i'm pretty sure that's why it's in place in its current form. it makes money with big draw schools, and for the most part it does a decent job of handling who's best for national title games.

the problem with the BCS is what it does to the actual 'sport' aspect of college football....you know, where you actually have to win your games (lol...as a small aside, wisconsin is better than msu, yes. congrats for recognizing that. however, you got to actually win the game or its not worth shit. a lot of people thought eric crouch was awesome, too. that's why you play the game). you can argue til you're blue in the face about whether the BCS actually accomplishes the sport aspect of football...however it clearly doesn't do a very good job of incorporating non-BCS conference teams when they are actually very good. in years without a undefeated BSU or TCU or something, no one cares. unless you're auburn back a few years ago
