+1 why didnt you read the tourny rules and see that if you dont have enough flex points to get thru the tourny that you shouldnt participate in the tourny. that seems to be the only reason i can see as to why you would forfeit a game that your scheduled for...

We play the team my DC owns. The bracket came out after we signed up and jkid just asked me to stick it out. It's not fair for me to use his own defense against him.

This tournament is to decide the best team in silver. If any team loses in the tournament then they obviously have no claim to that title so therefore neither Montpelior nor any other team has the right the think they deserve to stay in. Sure, Montpelior might be able to advance another couple rounds but, in the end, there's no way we can say they're the "champions" of silver because the got outdone.

I've played games between 2 different teams I coach. As long as you're not a douche, it's pretty easy to do fairly. In fact, it's a really good exercise to evaluate and scout yourself.

And if you really don't want to continue, I say let Montpelier continue. Your temper tantrum aside, I think most teams would still consider them the champs if they win out. You'd be the only one wondering 'what if...'

I just don't understand how someone can claim to be the best if they get beaten.

We'll let jkid handle it I guess but I hope you know I really wasn't expecting it to come to this when I agreed to stay in the tournament after I pointed out that we were in the same bracket. Obviously, it is my spot in the tournament and I should be able to do whatever I want with it but I'm not looking to upset anyone or come off as having a "temper tantrum" as you say.

If Montpelior really is interested in being in a tournament in which they got knocked out of fair and square, and they're willing to put enough stink up about it, then let them in I guess just to avoid controversy.

I guess I'm a douche since I don't see how it can be done both easy and fair.

I don't see anyone having a temper tantrum. It's his spot, if he wants bow out of this tourney, it's his decision. I guess we'll have to wait and see what jkid2 thinks.

ya then why doesnt everyone i get to play against bow down out of the tourny as well, its not fair a team gets a free win without having to do anything, at least let them play montplier if they are as bad as you say they wont win and then the other team at least has a game instead of a bye. I work closely with 3 peewee teams and theres chances i can play each of them in different tourny's and i agree with ping that you can learn a lot about your own AIs doing so.

Technically, my rules would state that I would have to accept 1kwerdna's forfeit against San Antonio. However, since I am the head coach there, I would be ok with that game happening as long as Dead Ed didn't touch the AI. Also, I played jxgator's Pugs in the official tourney a couple seasons ago and my team won fair and square even though he was a part of my team and I wasn't a part of his. I really don't want a forfeit to happen.

No but it is fair because he played a huge part in our victory against them. If you look.. our defense was stellar (which he runs). Our offense was subpar as we averaged less than 1 yard per carry so the defense and ST's what kept us in the game. In any other circumstance it might not be considered fair but with amount of work that he puts into my team it's certainly fair.

Here's how I did it...which I think may be the same situation. I DC'ed one team...and HC (OC/DC/ST) the other team.

First, I took the team I DC'ed for...and I set my defense based upon what the tendencies of my HC teams' offense.

Second, I set the defense for my HC team against the OC of the team I DC for.

Third, I set the offense for my HC team after scouting what holes I thought could be found in the team I DC for. After setting the other AI, I couldn't really remember what the DAI was for the first team, so I didn't worry about that. And then if I did find some holes, I didn't allow myself to go back and fix the DAI or DPC of the other team.

So basically I just set everything based upon scouting & tendencies like I would against any other team. I paid no attention to what I was setting up to do with the other team. The truth is...you likely don't change a ton from game to game. So as long as you're not setting one team to not cover the weak side of the field or not to cover the FB pass and then running to those weaknesses with the other team (this is what I meant by being a douche), you're not really being biased.

A couple other options:
1) Don't allow either team to touch their AI from the previous game
2) Both teams use Basic AI. Let the best players win the game.

The difference between your situation and our situation is that you can actually be unbiased. Obviously Dead.Ed is gonna favor his own team... most people would including me. Because of this I don't think it's fair for him to have to play against his own AI.

Also idk if the "basic AI" idea is fair because then we're just basically picking out of a hat who wins (since builds are very similar)

I've done basically the same thing with and without my own team.
