He runs my special teams unit. This is a statistical summary. Is he supposed to downgrade what we've done so we end up below someone? This is based on numbers and is not subject to personal affiliations. This is based on raw numbers. BTB dominated BBB#4

I'm going to assume that your point in posting that is how Tecmo is a better team than BTB....
Tecmo does have higher level players, so my guess is that Tecmo would win a game between the two.
However, I never said that these rankings were valid for determining who would win a game between two closely ranked teams in different leagues.
Because the stats come from games played within the leagues, there is nothing to standardize the stats between leagues, and therefore the rankings are inherently flawed. Fun yes, perfect no.
For reasons I am not 100% sure of (although I suspect league parity has something to do with it) some leagues tended to post lower overall stats than other leagues. I suppose another method I could have used would have been to determine each team's ranking based on their performance compared to the average of their league, which might normalize things a bit. But that will have to wait until next season.

If you are implying that my rankings are biased, then you sir, are dead wrong. From the middle of the season when I started putting together a ranking system, I went out of my way to construct a ranking system that did not favor a specific team, but rather rewarded what I consider to be stats that help your team win.
I can honestly say that even if BTB would have been terrible and ended up ranked 512th, I would have done the rankings the same way.
There are no awards handed out for leading my rankings, so I don't see any incentive for me to try and cheat to put my team at the top. I realize that on the internet people don't know me, and therefore most people will not be inclined to "take my word for it", but I set up the formula, then let the numbers work themselves out. It doesn't make any sense to put this much work into something only to rig it so that your team comes out on top unjustifiably, and then have no one enjoy it because they feel cheated. (besides, it would probably be more work to tweak the rankings to get a particular team to the top than what I already did....)
The games will still be played to determine who takes home the trophies, this was just for fun. So if it's not fun for you, then you don't have to read it.
Thanks,
StickMan

I do appreciate all the work you've put into this, I could really only imagine how long it took you. I do have to ask though how is it possible if my K/P is higher level then BTB's how are we 60+? How could that drop the #1 O and D to #2? Just curious not bitching just wondering if you can explain the system.

52----Coffee Town Bootleggers----BBB#8 were ranked too high and knocked off pretty badly in the playoffs by the #7 seed 143----Pittsburgh Steel----BBB#8 23-6.
Your numbers don't take into account that a team had a massive change and then was given the chemistry adjustment. They, Pittsburgh, is playing slightly higher than what your numbers show.

I don't have the spreadsheet in front of me, so I don't know the specifics of why Tecmo's ST were ranked so low, but the rankings don't really have anything to do with the level of the player (other than the higher level the player, the better stats they can put up). My ST rankings took into account how many FG's you made, FG %, ST touchdowns, PR and KR average. I do know that Beer Town had really high numbers in pretty much all of those categories. When I get home after work, I'll take a look at the spreadsheet and see why Tecmo was lower in the ST rankings.
As for how that dropped the #1 offense and #1 Defense, St accounted for 1/8th of the overall score. And since your offense was ahead of Beer Town's offense by 0.03 points, and your defense was ahead by 0.31 points, that is not enough to overcome the 22.88 ST score difference that Beer Town had on Tecmo.
Hope that helps some.
Thanks,

That's 100% correct. As I indicated in the introduction, these rankings consist of stats from the entire season. I know that there are teams who changed ownership or just figured out what the hell they were doing with the setting towards the later half of the season, and therefore those teams are penalized in my rankings (unfortunately) due to their poor early season performances.
It sounds like this Pittsburgh team you speak of falls into that category.
Thanks,
StickMan

Well, they are ranked 3rd overall and the top team in their league.
Additionally, since I don't think that a ranking difference of a few spots means a particular team would win over another then I don't think Honolulu has anything to worry about.
Thanks,

Do you even know who they played?
BBB#8 is one of the toughest Leagues in the BBBs, heck we were #8 and our #9 team I think would beat most others playoff teams. I will go out on a limb and say BBB#8s 1-8 in both Conferences would have a winning record vs. Any other BBBs 1-8 in each conference. Heck our 1-9s would dominate in Head to Head with anyother BBBs 1-9s.

Especially in our League but I would assume in most others also this is the case. Bad first halves followed by good to great 2nd halves of the season.
BTW to the OP, Great Job!!
