Yeah, that's why they traded down because they couldn't get Robiske or trade for Boldin.

I don't think they really wanted Mitchell. I think Mitchell was just using that to get selected early

Tbh Mitchell went on record saying that the Bears called him saying he'd be the pick at 49, and I've seen a couple places quoting Angelo as agreeing with that, but have not seen Angelo denying it anywhere.

He fits the bill for an Angelo 2nd round pick. A high talent guy, possibly from a small school or with bad college production who is considered a reach at the time.

Daniel Manning
Mark Bradley
Devin Hester
Charles Tillman

The above 4 guys fit the same bill tbh, and IMO Jerry has done very well drafting in the 2nd round as such. No doubt in my mind that Mitchell would have been the pick if he was there. Tillman is a beast, Hester is a beast, Manning is a beast that the coaching staff hates, and Bradley was very talented but unfortunately got in the coach's doghouse (he now starts for the chiefs).

Manning should have started at FS, he was pretty good in 07 when he was playing there for Mike Brown. I heard Mitchell saying that the Bears were interested but I didn't hear Angelo confirm nor deny. But I was pretty pissed when they traded out of the 2nd round but when I saw what they did with the picks I turned my frown upside down. lol

Ya, the whole making Manning a nickle CB thing is garbage imo. He's our defenses fastest player and he can hit like a boulder. Sure he's made some mistakes, but fucking Bob Babich taking him out of the FS spot to play nickle for life is simply retarded. Instead we're gonna make Corey Graham a FS...wtf kinda sense does that make....

It sucks, because back in Feb/March Jerry talked about how Mike Brown likely won't be re-signed, but he really likes Manning and hopes he can step it up this year. Unfortunately it seems coaches won't let him compete at the FS spot...

And ya, Jerrod Gilbert is nasty: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXDSPbZ_OUw

I have no idea what the hell these guys are thinking sometimes, taking a CB and putting him at FS and taking a FS and putting him at CB. I don't know where Gilbert is going to play, He problably could fill in for Harris when he's resting or rotate with the DEs. He's too small to play next to Harris but he has incredible power and a rediculous first step so it's possible that he could start next to Harris.

From what I understand he's gonna rotate in at 3-tech, which is weird because we already have harris and harrison.

If I had to hazard a guess, perhaps harrison will compete at NT with dusty, since he did have a pretty darn good rookie year.

Harrison > Dusty

Dusty's had enough chances. Manning hits like anything but a boulder. He doesn't wrap up a majority of the time but I do think he should be back at FS. Anyone but Steltz

Dusty is pretty good against the run, and I think that they are better when they are used in rotation

Mike Mulligan, Bears beat write and co host of the Mulley and Hanley show on Chicago 670 score radio show, said today that so far this year while watching the Bears OTA's, that this is the most talented, best Bears team he has seen since he has been covering them. He said they won't just be good, but they well be VERY GOOD. Only worry he has is injuries so far. There have been a lot of injuries so far, but most of them are minor. Other weakness he is worried about isn't the WR position, but the CB position. He thinks they need to get one more CB that could contribute. Mully is always very honest about the Bears. If they suck he will tell you that. This is very good news for Bears fans imo.

Yep the CB position is the only one to worry about, but if the pass rush is as good as I think it's going to be then I don't see them being to much of a problem.

I think CB is fine tbh. I'm more worried about FS. But if the defensive line does it's job, CB's won't have to be as good.

Tavaris Jackson, Sage Rosenfels, Aaron Rodgers, Daunte Culpepper and some rookie? Why do we even need CBs? lol

Rodgers will probably hit a sophmore slump like Derek Anderson did, because teams will finally have some tape on him and know how to stop him. And Culpepper seems like he could have a good season, he lost alot of weight so he'll be more mobile in the pocket and with as Linehan his OC and Johnson catch balls from him he could reproduce some of the success he had in 05
