Since I wasn't paying attention last season, why did Shonn Greene leave?

P sure Greene was on the cutting edge and smelled the Navs collapse a season early, so he left before the mess ensued.

In a nutshell,

1) The HHW playoff game in season 7
2) Greene was a treated as a slave in season 8; denied pitches, screens, and passes without true confirmation of ineffectiveness
3) A certain blackout drunk/blazed forum post
4) Andrew Vick sucks a fat one
5) I'm the white TO of GLB

All in all though, the guys in the Lincoln organization are swell fellows and will rebound if they have the desire to do so. I wasn't gonna post anything about this ever til some Husker fan started talkin' shit about Kirk Ferentz. I don't take too kindly to that.

I just assumed it was a happy merger of ICP and Lincoln based on the 2 seasons of success the team previously had.

There was 4 of us that joined with Lincoln after ICP folded. The other three are still there.

It's a thing of the past. There is no doubt in my mind that Shonn Green would make a great back for any pro team but loosing him is not the reason Lincoln missed the play-off's. Anyone who scouted our games this season will know that our running game was as strong as it ever was and turnovers hurt us badly. We started to get our shit together a little too late on O and D and it resulted in an early end.

If I had too choose between Shonn Green and Jason Shock and I think most of Lincoln would agree, I take Jason hands down. Both these backs are top notch but Jason has been doing it for us since season 1. There should be no hard feelings between Ryan and Lincoln. All that matters is Ryan is happy with where Shonn is and the Lincoln crew is happy with our team. I wish only the best for Shonn and hope his Bears do the best they can to make it up here. Lincoln vs Shonn would definitely make for some fun dotball.

Shonn Greene and Lincoln parting was mutual, and let's leave it at that.

No reason to attack each other over something that happened in the past. Shonn and Lincoln had their differences, but we all appreciate the 2 seasons he was there, because frankly, we kicked ass.

Do I think the reason we missed the playoffs is because we lost Shonn Greene? No...honestly I don't. Either way the Navs will be back stronger than ever next season. So things for us to do after day 32? Prepare for next season.

BEWARE, MONKEYS!

In a nutshell,

because he was released from his contract.

Would not have been released if Greene didn't intend to be released, but that's all history and semantics. That aside, thank you for doing the honorable thing and not letting him rot on the bench all year.

Shock is a pretty good back, but don't kid yourself...he's a second fiddler. If Greene were still on the team, Lincoln wouldn't be 4-8 and you guys know it.

Don't really think there's a point in arguing hypothetical situations.

It sure is possible but you could say the same if we lost Shock rather than Green. Having two great backs does give alot of insurance at the possition. Most importantly is that we wouldn't be 4-8 if we had not given up even half the turnovers we gave away durring the first half of the season. No ones fault but our own and it is something we have worked on with a bit of progress as of late and something we will continue to try and improve on next season as well.

Anyhow... We did pick up an absolute beast of a RB in John Robert. I just wish we had him the first half of the season as well. The bottom line is Shonn Green or not we have alot of work to do if we want to again become a play-off contender in this league and I am sure we will get back to the top part of the pack sooner than later.

All I've got to say is we on Lincoln hate losing as much as the next guy, and we have a bunch of agents dedicated to winning. You can be assured we aren't just sitting on our asses this offseason. Okay we technically maybe we are, but 100% of GLB work is done while sitting on your ass.

For some reason I thought it was more than 4 of you guys. I guess my memory is wrong...
