but having and entire unit devoted to special teams is dumb. and the only way you can justify it would be that you have it, you know it's a HUGE advantage, and you dont wanna get rid of it

well guess what, everyone knows it's an exploit, and it'll be gone next season
might as well get rid of it now and try to save season 9 since the season just started


ummm...in football...there are people dedicated to special teams...yes...but that really isnt the problem here at all...its the VA's.

in football they have roster caps, now dont they?

Hey dumbass, 75% of the players on NFL ST teams units play solely on STs. It exists. Btw, the shift key. You might want to start using it. And perhaps also write normal sentences. Just saying...

I can live either way with Bort keeping or ditching special teams, but, with all due respect, your analogy is way off, aspenwolf. Just about every single team in HS, college and pro ball has specialized ST players that do nothing but play special teams. I know this isn't real FB, but that IS real FB.

What will suck is that I seriously doubt that bort will lift the chem hit taken from the forced cuts he will impose.

Yeah, roster cap is 85 players. Lightning has 72.

parcells had a quote once going into the draft or looking at FA's, 'how many snaps will i get out of this person'
if you couldn't play for him 10-15 snaps or more a game, you weren't on his team

if you want to fill up some of the depth on your CAPPED roster with special team players, that'll be your choice. but guess what?
when you have a CAPPED roster you cant just have one area loaded up with special team VAs. it wont be a smart option
all of these exploits are happening because people can load up on STs, because it wont affect the rest of the team

if your roster is capped, you might not want to have a guy on there that is only gonna play 4-5 snaps. his ST VA might be useless to you then

which will suck a little for the Wolfpack as we already traded away/cut our special teams spec guys. Really Pain just needed more flex though

If a guy plays only on Special Tems, most of the time, he'll get 10-15 snaps a game between punts, kickoffs, punt returns, kick off returns, field goals and field goal defense.

You can't install a roster cap mid season. What do you do with all the extra agents/players that paid to boost their players and wanted to be special teams players? Most pro teams carry A LOT of players. It will be pretty hard for all those players to find a home mid-season.

i'm sure this season wont have any new rules or limitations to it, and tbh i dont care what the scores and score recaps look like. but next season you're gonna be faced with these limitations. you'll have to have smaller rosters at some point, and gee, everything i'm saying right now will apply then

so any of you criticizing my thinking process and my statements about roster cap are slightly off. it's gonna happen. you'll have to deal with it at some point

I have to agree with the above posts that VAs are the biggest problem in the game. Once you get rid of the VAs, you won't have dominant PBs, unstoppable special teams, a rediculous amount of forced fumbles, or a few other problems.
