But you made the right point. He was trying to help his players. Whatever anyone thinks of the situation, do not question motives.

I just tend to gravitate towards bickering

I don't know xuchal (though some will claim that's a lie because he's an alpha player, as if we all know each other) but it was still the right thing for him to do. He wasn't trying to screw over the new owner.

This isn't the NFL. This is a game. Leaving the players on the team means they're not going to enjoy it. If a newbie owner buys the team, then what?

It's a game intended to mimic real-life professional caliber sports leagues. If a player doesn't want to commit or is uncomfortable with long contracts, then he has the option of holding out for a 1-year contract. As a player of this game, I already know what it feels like playing a 100% gutted team. It's not fun at all. If a player is extremely unhappy, then yes he should have the option of walking away from a contract, but at a price

I would approach the situation as my real-life analog would.

As far as 1-year (40-day) commitments being too long...is that really what our standards have dropped to? Is the ADHD, ritalin-popping, instant gratification attitude really this pervasive? This is just a game, but it's starting to make me fear the real life future.

Okay, I'm going to bite my tongue and avoid this thread hereon in... you guys really don't get it.

I'll say it once again. It's not a game intended to mimic a real-life professional caliber sports league. It's a game. You're supposed to have fun.

No, you don't get it. The more this happens, the more people don't have fun. This is verging on a game-breaking exploit in my opinion.

In my opinion, each pro league should be set with no option to buy in.

If an owner wants to pass the team on internally (keep the team together) it gets approved, but if the team is sold off to someone else, it is automatically relegated the next season.

Have the measure be by morale. If the team is sold off and the morale drops that far its clear the team was gutted...relegation.

Apparently things like this are making it not fun for a lot of other people.

This whole thing makes me laugh.

Guys this is a GAME, chill a little bit. Dont worry, in a few seasons with the way the way the relegation system works we'll have a full league of the cream of the crop. If you are so worried about the competitiveness of the league then you might spend a little too much time here.

Actually, this sytem is doomed to repeat itself. You will still have the worst teams in USA Pro deciding they don't like having a 2-14 record and then gutting their teams to prop up some other team for the playoffs.

This isn't fun... it's only fun for those of you who get a kick out of crushing teams 100-0 that are full of CPU players.

You guys have already ran Bolster out of the forum with your groupings. Tis owner did nothing wrong. He didn't want to manage any longer, so he cut ties with the team (released his own players) and sold the team.
Another thing. If a moderator sees a gutted team, what are they going to do? Revoke forum posting privledges?
OK, a team's gutted. The only thing admins can do is punish the old owner and sell it to a new one.
Auto regulation if a team is bought during the season? So even if they are the best team, they have to go down to AAA and dominate before they can come back up?

I have a question. This season in South America, after all of my players during the first season requested a release to play in USA, I filled the team with new comers to gain some XP. We get killed since we're at Pro level, but I know that they will improve. Is is team gutting? I gained nothing out of releasing all of the players. Maybe I should've held them hostage. That's a much better option.

I understand the dismay, but I don't get why the word "cheating" is being thrown around.

Let's be clear, this wasn't a case of xuchal gutting the team. Gutting would entail a large chunk of money missing, all the players traded to one team, possibly within the same conference, etc. None of that happened. Xuchal ran out of steam and tried to do right by his players by releasing them. His actions don't adversely affect anyone else in USA Pro, except perhaps some vague damage done to the "integrity" of the league, which I, personally, call bullshit on. There are still literally hundreds of owners who would join USA Pro in half a heartbeat, and that wont change anytime soon.

As I said before, and DeWitt echoed, this won't be a theme. All of the "deadbeat" teams in Pro were given to alpha testers during the test phase, the time involvement was much, much less then, so there's going to be a few burnouts. The sky isn't falling, people, no need to panic.

Does the NFL cut every player when a new owner takes over a team? jesus if they need to leave the team, wait till the season it over. This is a gutting and a joke to happen at the "pro" level with so called greater then god "alpha" players who supposedly help build this game and are know it alls.

Are we in the NFL now?
Gutting I think now.
People calling out Alpha Players = People that are jealous and want to be them.

do the NFL players pay the league to play the game?

Yes they do.. they pay with time. since being a kid they gave up everything else to hone their skills, their speed, running all day long to get 1 step faster. they dont go out and party, they go to teh gym. they pay with putting in the time to be the best.

So stop with your bullshit excuses on how this isnt the NFL. Be a Mod for once in your life and step up stating that these practices are bullshit and should be disallowed and not practice instead of hiding behind every lame excuse you can think of. They sign a contract... they are on that team cause they pressed OK and accepted the contract to play for that team. Use your brain here and think, why is it bad when a team just cuts everyone in a middle of a season.... HMmmm.. this is a tough question... i mean all 40+ players mustve wanted to leave... Oh yea if NFL players retire in mid season, they have to pay their signing bonus back to the team and oh yea... the team still owns their rights if they wanna come back and play. Serenity, seriously are you that clueless?? if an owner sells his team back, they players are part of the team and they should stay with the team. once the new owner comes then he/she can work with who wants to stay and who goes in a fair way. to the players and to the team.

There is no good reason to ever gut a team. its a lame practice that effects more then just the team gutted, the division that team was in and the effect on the playoffs for that league the team was in. Now there are 40+ players who are FA who wouldnt have been affecting the whole game... going to teams and changing those leagues.

Hey bolstersam, since your the "alpha tester" and you guys do such good, instead of being a prick and sarcastic 80% of the time, why dont you do some good with your posts and start acting like a alpha.. or would that be too much to ask of alpha. to be honest the term alpha tester should be rid of, its a joke, they do nothing more then beta or the rest...

Owners, mods and the rest of us.

Let me repeat myself.

Does anyone have a problem with a rule like:

"Do not act in a manner that NO real-life football GM would act."

If you have a problem, explain.

If not, there's no reason for not putting in a rule along those lines. Unless the people making the rules don't want to abide by them...
