I've come to the conclusion that Bort is a good coder but mediocre game designer. He comes up with good ideas often enough (the entire game is a pretty good idea), but much of that gets corrupt when he listens to the drooling masses. The drooling masses of the game often request things that make the game worse without thinking out the long term results. It seems many features are added for the sake of adding them, rather than improving the game. Every major change related to player development has been a huge flop (VA is the only redeemable one, but even those are fairly boring). New training system, advanced equipment, endorsements, and even veteran abilities haven't improved gameplay. The sim engine gets worse and worse each season (surprisingly, the opposite of what I would have expected - I was amazed how good the game engine was early on). The one constant improvement has been the addition of customization of strategies. The defensive play maker (and future offensive one) will add plenty of new dynamics to the game and keep it interesting. Developing a player will always be fairly boring, and I don't think any amount of gimmicks will improve that. Players just need to become more involved in strategies and helping teams out to get the most out of the game. The Peewee and Casual leagues are another step in the right direction.

I try to just block out the gimmick features of the game. The sim being a disaster right now bothers me and could be the one thing that drives me and most of my GMs away from playing. A busted sim where a kicker can pancake the hell out of anyone on kickoffs and gunners have no chance to get through any linemen is not fun to play. The constant drastic changes are also very annoying, as those who are the most successful and do things right tend to get punished for it. There is no way to predict what build might be good in the future, and it becomes a crapshoot. Once we get to the point that players reach their plateaus, fewer things will need to be nerfed since everything will have been seen before. If the sim stabilizes and is not completely retarded by that point, it should be fine. I have enough Flex Points to last me for the next year or even two with player retirement, so I have no reason to give up any time soon, even if the game gets horrible.

Good points tom - especially about 'listening to the drooling masses'. Bort's policy of listening to the masses is what has made this into a mess, because to be quite honest - listening to the majority in this game is a trap. Look where the majority is: stuck below AAA level on teams that will never get anywhere. For them, the route to success is faster through changing the sim than by finding a solution themselves, because most of them are incapable of it. The difference between them and the successful teams is that most of the successful teams have rolled with the punches and found new ways to build players and stay successful - a skill which eludes most of the people that call for bad changes.

This is so fucking stupid. Davitrav's TE gets one BUT LARRY SMITH DOESN'T? A FORMER WR for Minnesota who is playing for CPL'S LOLIFAX now gets a USA Pro endorsement? Pogo wasn't even the best receiver on his own team last year.

ROFL!!!!!!!!!!

MY TE ROCKS!

He's about 10x worse than Pigleg, and everyone else in this league would agree with me.

Endorsements, game wide, were a giant crock of shit.

My TE is one of the best but least utilized. Life for a TE is rough on a team full of great WR's. And if your TE has 10 catches a game for some ridiculous number of TD's then its highly likely that the WR's on your team suck.

Which is why casual leagues are going to be so popular. I can still remember morons calling for the Offensive/Defensive AI to be removed right after it was implemented.

Travis Davis= Jeremy Shockey

Little bitch with a loudmouth gets sent packing and then his team wins it all.

I think we just proved how important endorsements are.

Eh, they were deactivated for today's games: "Therefore, I've disabled the new items for today's games until we can hash those problems out. I feel this is the best plan to make sure there's no issue"

Another example of Bort not knowing the game of football. Endorsements are a fine idea, but there just isn't a good equation to figure out who should get it.

Why is everybody complaining about champions getting the most endorsments? For seasons players have been complaining that they want the game to be more "life like". How many of the Detroit Lions do you see in commercials right now??? It just gives teams more incentive to succeed in the game, but I do agree the pieces of equipment given are excessive.

I agree a couple should go to the champs of the league. Just don't agree that the champs should get any more than 4...

I honestly do believe Bort is both an intelligent person and truly wants this game to kick ass. Unfortunately, every time he does things without thinking, it hurts the game and puts a big time hurt on both many of his customers' faith in the game and his own credibility. We're all human and we all make mistakes. The best advice Bort could get would be that this has turned into more than a basement business and needs to be treated as such. Between things being done without forethought, inadequate testing and DD's forum antics, it's been coming off more and more like a 3 Stooges ep lately...and that isn't a very good business model.

Indeed. Bort is the world's worst businessman, there are so many ways he could be making a lot more money with a more aggressive business model. He definitely isn't in it for the money I will say that much.

Yeah, that's it.

No, the reality is that Pigleg and about 10 other TEs are miles better than your TE. And everyone here would agree.

Every team in this league would target Pigleg if they had him on their team. It has nothing to do with the quality of our WRs.

i think we all would pass to pigleg, but not 50 times a game, like you do =]
